The Peter Auto YT channel is worth subscribing to; it has fine onboard videos of people racing their precious classic cars instead of just driving them.

(Sorry for the off-topic. Now, back to Reiza and AMS2.)

I have contacted Ethan again, our real life race driver and engineer to see how he is, out there at the Sonoma raceway.
Here is his reply with some images.

    Hey David-
It’s been quite a year! From March where it looked like we’d be sitting around a lot this year to now where I’ve been flat out since July! Pretty wild.
Some neat stuff in the shop right now; a Ralt RT41 which was my dream car as a kid. I’ve got a Swift DB1 project that is beginning a full frame up rebuild, and then the usual testing and race weekends. We have been running something every 7-10 days since early July.I’ve attached some shots of work from the past few months.
Have you made much progress with the sim platform and historic cars? I’m sure with the world returning to racing that you have seen some small dropoff in the sim world, but I’d think there was enough of a groundswell a few months back to raise the high water mark for interest in sims and what they can offer. I made a shifter mount for one of my customers who bought a full rig from ProSim a month or so ago. Pretty nice stuff I have to say, all the hardware and electrical was real racecar stuff. Not sure if that’s a common or well known manufacturer, but I thought seemed pretty nice.
    Hope alls well by you!
    Ethan

Though BMW's original intent with the M1 was to go racing, that never really happened on any large scale. Some Group 4 cars were built, as originally intended, with 470-hp engines, gutted interiors and lightweight plastic windows. Unfortunately, the cars were far too heavy to be competitive, being based on 3,000-pound road cars. The Procar series was a BMW Motorsports creation, pitting wealthy amateur drivers against racing champions in a support series to Formula 1 races. While the series probably didn't sell many cars, the Procar M1s looked fantastic with their huge wings, bulging fenders and fire-spitting exhaust. 1e366239f654eeebd31f583963901da1985cedae.jpg 9a86065dc6a411d6b063884e1b726892fc5c3a30.jpg 06011726867849d3529658d6fa4b93d0ecf8a0b7.jpg 2a18e174fe7539fd8cd487aea4d208e19499b215.jpg 80497a7858df9250543f5f913b94a108afcd9621.jpg BMW-M1-at-Laguna-Seca-02.jpg

iRacings TM guru Kaemmer: a tyre that isn't touching the ground isn't subjected to cooling.
Kaemmer made a BIG boo boo : iRacing

Are you really saying the tyres in the pic that are not touching the ground and are spinning in cool air are not cooling?

Hehe absolutely not my good man.:D
But I was a bit sarcastic because this Kaemmer the creator of iRacings tire model postulated this non cooling nonsense when he presented the latest incarnation of iRacings TM.
So after his "logic" the tires in your picture are not cooled - as long as the cars are flying.
    OK?;)

ByTheWay: Another iRacing staff member David Tucker named Kaemmer as the Einstein of tire models. And he was not joking.

    The great BMW M1 procar
Pictures may paint a thousand words.
In this case with this "work in progress car" handling so well atm, and seemingly gathering lots of fans in AMS2 already what better way to enjoy a coffee or 2, than watching 16 of them thrashed by some of the biggest names of the day.
3rd pro car race from 1979
    With
Mario Andretti, Hans Stuck, rising star Nelson Piquet, Alan Jones and numerous other famous names

    EDIT
Seems very tempting to reproduce this race in AMS2 interested? pm me

Not shy of the wet, in practice session

Have to say the Pro in AMS2 car is a blast in the wet. With no assists the challenge is very rewarding, esp when you get it right and take the new improve ai for a session..

Edit wet racing tonight online 30th Oct after 10 pm uk

The cars are equipped with a 6-speed gearbox, sequential and with power shift. The engines are the V6 - 3.6 liters of 270hp.
Each race is 25 minutes long. Each car can be represented by 1 or 2 drivers. Some races have double scores, one round is a NIGHT race and the other is on the “Oval” circuit in Curitiba-PR.

    Mmm 4 Days to go:D

More Info on this rare beasty

    The Mclaren F1 Cars
The LM for AMS2 is in bold
    Only 106cars were manufactured: 5 prototypes (XP1, XP2, XP3, XP4, XP5), 64 road versions (F1),
1 tuned prototype (XP1 LM), 5 tuned versions (LM), 1 longtail prototype (XPGT), 2 longtail versions (GT), and 28 racecars (GTR). Production began in 1992 and ended in 1998.
The F1 LM variants were 60kg lighter and more track-focused than the standard F1 and more powerful than the F1 GTR track cars, which were restricted at Le Mans as part of the regulations.
    Also
    After final production

McLaren upgraded two “standard” F1 road cars to LM specifications, including upgrading the engine to unrestricted 680 hp GTR specification. These 2 cars were additionally equipped with the Extra-High Downforce Kit that included (and exceeded) the coachwork effects of the LM examples, including the front air vents and rear wing.

If you wanted 1 of these 2 special factory adapted cars.

    One-of-Two, Road-Legal McLaren F1 LM-Spec Headed to Auction, Could Fetch $23M
"LM-Specification"which is expected to fetch $21 million to $23 million this August.
The F1 LM was built to celebrate McLaren’s astonishing debut victory at Le Mans. Appearing at Le Mans with seven F1 GTRs in six privateer teams, F1 GTRs stormed to an impressive victory, finishing in 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 13th places. The winning No. 59 Kokusai Kaihatsu McLaren, driven by Yannick Dalmas, Masanori Sekiya and JJ Lehto, finished one lap ahead of its closest rival, simultaneously becoming the first team and first car to win on debut at Le Mans. In addition, Lehto and Sekiya's involvement meant it was the first Le Mans win for a Finnish driver and a Japanese driver in the historic 24-hour race.
McLaren themselves retain XP1, the prototype. It was promised to Lewis Hamilton if he won 3 titles for McLaren, but he left for Mercedes after only winning 1 so it’s still parked on the display boulevard in the factory.
The Sultan of Brunei bought three, which presumably are rotting away in his “museum” along with all of the other cars he’s hoarded - chassis numbers LM001, LM004 and LM005, the latter two are painted grey rather than the papaya orange colour that Gordon Murray wanted them all to be.

Yoshio Tsuzuki owns LM002, he’s the CEO of ZENT whos name you may recognise as a sponsor on Le Mans and SuperGT cars. ZENT is a gaming arcade/slot machine company.

Ralph Lauren has LM003 - he’s, er, Ralph Lauren. He has 2 other F1s, one of which has the original style high mounted mirrors.
