Hi everyone Can we paint our own skins yet? And where are the template files kept, what is the process after we paint .ie do we save as dds files thanks
We already can, but you have to extract and repack the .bff files, and yes you use dds files in between to edit the livery. no templates available, you can use some (re-scaled) templates from AMS. And so far no automation implemented in the game
As I understand it you can only replace paints allready included in AMS2. Not add new. But wasnt there some promise from Reiza that some time in the future there will be a paint tool? ByTheWay: @SaxOhare Check the LB for F-V10 G1 Interlagos. It took me a lot of hours just to somewhat catch up with you.
Latest: Ups @SaxOhare - It was not my intension to mock you with an even newer and faster laptime. I dont know what happened but suddenly the car changed to some kinda warp mode. So be warned to not check the mentioned car/track again - it will probably just spoil your day. ByTheWay: Im sorry :derail end\
Hopefully it will be easier and more transparent than juggling with all these dds and bff files and extract and repack - and what have we I remember iRacing where it was so simple that you were free to create your paints in ANY paint program that could output a simple tga file. And then afterwards you just had to place this tga file in the cars "clothing" folder - where the sim without any further messing would find it and use it on track. ByTheWay: The result was that almost everybody was able to drive a personal painted car - and wasnt depending of as example paying some modder to paint for them.
Man I would love it if they added a proper livery editor in game. I'm usually not very handy with them but I enjoying browsing and seeing what other people create.
The optimal solution would be how it was done in good old NR2003(iRacing forerunner). In NR2003 there was a simple inbuild painting tool that even a 5 year kid could use. But because the paint was saved in the standard paint file format tga all others with almost any fancy paint tool could also participate. ByTheWay: Best of both worlds.
I hope they make the tire sidewalls editable too (black tires are very ugly) in templates when they release this feature soon.
And individually editable left and right windows, headlights and brake lights, too, for some categories
i too am awaiting to be able to paint some custom liveries, would be good if we could get an official update on its progress, if i recall correctly i thought i read ages ago that it was in an upcoming update with templates and that was a few updates ago, and nothing appeared.
