    Hello fellas.

Tony Kanaan is going to stream some AMS2 tomorrow on his twitch channel. He usually streams around 24h/01h/02h GMT. He does open lobbies often and the streams are mostly in portuguese, but english/italian/spanish speakers are welcome, though these comments are mostly lost in the portuguese flood.

I politely request that someone with the knowledge does a capture and makes an English translation.

I am way too lazy to do that, but you can hop in and ask questions in english. TK usually answers when he notices an english comment.

The live has just started, if anyone is interested.

I don't think he did any comment at all about the way the cars felt... he doesn't seem to be taking the game very seriously.

    "What physics?" -Tony Kanaan

He only tried the Opala, Beetle, and a rental kart. Got frustrated and quit after the kart stuck in reverse—they don't even have reverse IRL.

To me it seems the iRacing crowd are like the left, cant except any other way of thinking  where most general sim racers like all sims and can except them for what they are, kind of like the opposite of left

Did i really say that on a forum

He did not take AMS2 seriously, didn't comment on the physics, wasn't able to configure triple screens and apparently got annoyed with the bugs and little inconveniences of the game.

Worth noting that since the very beginning he didn't intend on taking AMS2 (or any other sim) seriously, especially in community driven events. It was just for fun.

On the triples subject, he's not very pc savvy so there is that. However, I also did have some difficulties setting up my triples and if were not for my beta folder I would have not been able to set it up at all (I've reported it on this forum).

Anyway, this is a good picture of the first impressions people coming from other sims might have of AMS2. As I've been saying, AMS2 has a lot of little bugs and inconveniences that summed up make the user experience a little bit frustrating, reducing greatly the replay factor.

Many people here in this forum love Reiza unconditionally due to AMS1 and the very community friendly devs. This somehow could cloud up judgement on these current issues.

Also worth saying that afaik Reiza is fully aware of this situation and eventually they are going to tackle most of it. The problem is that it takes a lot of time, and in the mean time AMS2 perception before the public is taking some damage.

Unfortunately, for me the AMS2 experience isn't really smooth. Weirdly enough, at the same time I want to just lay it off due to amount of inconveniences and bugs, I keep coming back just to feel a little down again. I don't regret any dime I spent on AMS2, though. If Reiza can get around the issues apparently caused by the Madness engine, maybe in a year or so AMS2 will give me the same smooth and joyful experience as AMS1 did.

Finally, TK said he was't able to configure ACC at all, which is a much more mature sim atm, so there is that too.

AMS2 certainly does not have polish yet, but I think you nailed it when you said he doesnt seem to take any sim seriously.

My heart pumps after a close MP race. His is probably is just above flatline considering he actually drives at 230mph for a living.

I can't say what his reasoning is for twitch streaming, but it doesn't sound like he gets much out of it like the rest of us do.

I'm sure there are plenty of RL Racers that feel "why would I want to play with pretend cars when I can drive the real thing?". Most of my friends with sporty cars say that very thing as they shake their heads and laugh.

It's one of the things that I realized during PCars development in regard to RL race driver input. To them (not all), it's just a game meant to be fun, nothing more. Probably not the best choice of a consultant for a sim. I think we too often put RL race drivers on a pedestal when it comes to applying their RL experience. Unless they have real appreciation for simulators themselves, they can do more damage than good to development.

    Don't get me wrong, though.

He doesn't take any sim seriously when doing community events. He takes it very seriously when he is racing in iRacing officials or some iRacing special event.

In fact, TK is working with iRacing to improve the tyre model for some cars.

Anyway, I'm not his spokesperson, all these comments on him are about my impressions after watching a bunch of his streams.

Is that a rule here? I've read it before in other places and never understood why as adults we can't talk about certain subjects
Apologies if I've upset someone though and will keep it PC in future

I don't think you've upset anyone. However, this is a specialised forum. There are plenty of other places on the internet where you can talk about such stuff. :)

Just not with "my preferred community" to see where we all stand.
But far enough. I keep on topic.
