It does actually and I didn't notice earlier because I was using my other monitor. Now my GPU is idling at 39 deg, that's strange and no doubt monitor firmware and NV driver related.

    I
I Find if I run with unrestricted FPS my GPU and CPU especially can become an oven, even more so in replays

Thanks for that test, well that is interesting then, you are getting better performance than I am on my system. Would love to know why! I might try that same scenario tonight just to confirm.

Wouldn't mind knowing that myself tbh. Must be a setting somewhere holding it back. Just for curiosity, is your RAM configured XMP-II in the bios and running at full speed?

I do run with fps limited to 72, but it will still use 100% GPUat spots, mainly in replay, I might run it tonight with unlimited fps and see what I get.

XMP stands for Extreme Memory Profile, it basically sets your memory up with higher than standard speeds/timings etc. XMP-II is just a different profile but XMP-I is fine as long as your memory is running at the correct speed.
If your monitor is 120Hz capable I'd cap the FPS at 118, only reason I don't cap mines is that it will never get to 240 FPS in-game - I used to cap it at 118 when it was only capable of 120Hz.

I ran a race the same as yours but with GT4 I areas of GT1 and I did it with uncapped FPS but I also had Changing weather but not rain. Was very pleasantly surprised fps at start was above 150, in first lap it dropped down to about 105 and then for the rest of the race was fluctuating from 105 to about 180. Most of the time between 115 and 160. I averaged 145 over the course of the race. Replays are a different story, not sure if there is an issue with replays but they are very heavy on fps, I could only get around 60 at the start and over the first lap and then it only went up into the 80's. Do you find the same?

Yep, replays are heavy but they are in most sims to be fair.

Those FPS figures look better for you though

Lol, yes they do thankfully. Any yes they are heavy in most Sims. I am curious why that would be though, what happens in replays as opposed to the race to cause that, is it just the camera angles that cause that or is something going on beneath the surface?

Yeah, I guess it's to do with rendering a larger view rather than what can be seen through the windscreen but could be wrong.

I have a 2080ti with a i7 9700k CPU and have all settings at Ultra with only blur turned off. I'm running at 4K with Adaptive Sync turned on, so this locks in 60fps, but it's silky smooth any track time of day or night. I can't tell the difference of having higher fps in any case, so very happy with this and 4K for this game is absolutely beautiful.

How many fps would you get if you did not lock at 60fps?

I thought 60fps was silky smooth until i tried 120 and 144 and 160... The silkiness does go down, but from 60 to 120 it's a revelation. Sorry, not really relevant. :)

I get about 80 to 150, but with screen tearing or lag. With Nvidia V-Sync on it also reduced over heating the card running at 100%. I'm running 4K. I have it on for all my sim racing and it's great - Buttery smooth. With your 3090, you should have buttery smooth at maximum unlocked FPS, no matter what settings you throw at it. Are you in 4K?
