Zandvoort would be a dream come true. I like modern version in ACC and I loved old layout in Grand Prix Legends. But I want them in AMS2!!:D

I like to think historic racing will live on; that scene has never been stronger - biggest threat to historic racing is the increase in value of the cars in question as the world's wealth gap increases exponentially.

To be honest, my big hope for AMS2 is to have a focus on racing from '70s to '90s; pre 1970 Assetto Corsa and its modders have done an amazing job with.

Whilst we're wishlisting, I really hope they don't add '50s or earlier cars as I'd rather have a bit of depth to what they've already done and the eras the track roster covers. Keep adding cars to the different Grand Prix eras already in game, but also to the Group C, GT1, Group A grids. If anything new was to come, I'd hope for some 1970s Group 2 Ford v BMW 1970s touring cars and/or Group 4 GTs.

With different 'generic' formula cars for each era, I think Reiza have done a great job with their single seater roster, but I'd like to see this approach with sportscars too, a couple of generic Group C, LMP or Group 6 models would go a long way!

    [/wishlist]

So many opinions and wishes. Haha. I am wishing for more amateur-racing. Low and middle class. Aka similar level like F-trainers, Caterhams. Uno's, Stock/Touring, etc. Theres still another half of the 20's to go. It hurts a bit that AMS 2 is now a bit of jack of all trades. I wanna know which way Reiza wants to go. Can't hurt to make an AMS: Historic Sim, tho. but I bet that would be a niche in a niche in a niche. Aka no money income.

Being a niche within a niche within a niche is kinda the only way left to go with a racing sim, because you have so many options that you need to differentiate yourself somehow. F1 2020 (F1, even though it's not a real sim), rFactor 2 (Le Mans and Formula E), ACC (all things GT3/GT4), RaceRoom (TCR and DTM, though that might be a dead horse now), iRacing (Nascar) all have something that makes them truly unique amongst their competitors.
Reiza have that with their Brazilian content, but its popularity is not big outside of Brazil.

As I see it, there are not many things that are reasonably popular and not already done by others left to differentiate yourself with. As I see it, there are four realistic options for AMS2 to go, if they want to be known for one specific thing.

    1. Full Brazilian, and Jack of all trades in other stuff. We already have that, more or less, so this option would come down to adding a few remaining South American series, and otherwise just collecting various bits of content.

    2. Formula 1 through the ages simulator. To be frank, they aren't a good formula simulator at the moment. They have car types from different eras, which is great. But Formula One has always been what it is because of the differences in car performance - and all newer Formula classes in AMS2 are one-car-classes, which would not feel like Formula 1 even if it had the original liveries. They'd need to have 10-11 differently performing cars in each classes - it's ok if they look the same, but they shouldn't perform the same.

    3. V8 Supercars simulator. There aren't a lot of grounds in the sim at the moment, but V8 Supercars are one of the most popular national series, and we've already got a V8 supercar, and Bathurst and Adelaide, so there's some grounds to that. Could be a profitable route to go, if you manage to get all the tracks they race on, but might be expensive.

    4. Historic simulator. This might be the most feasible option, but in order to be actually a viable option in that regard, you'd have to be able to simulate at least a mock-season from the 70's and 90's.
Let me expand on that a bit: At the moment, we have the following 70's tracks:
    Silverstone 1975, Interlagos 1976, Spielberg 1977, Kyalami 1976, Imola 1972
We can maybe add Yahuarcocha to that, because that track has a certain 70's vibe to it, and something like Taruma/Cascavel in order to beef up the track list, but that still doesn't feel like a full season.
Now, this will most likely get better by adding Spa-Francorchamps from 1970, a historic Nordschleife, and Buenos Aires.
But still, I'd argue that without the addition of something like Monaco 1973, Monza 1976, Brands Hatch 1975, and maybe something like historic Watkins Glen/Mosport (well, for that track you don't need historic versions, as it hasn't changed)/Charade/Zandvoort (see my post above), this will still not feel complete.

While this sounds like an expansive wishlist, I actually think it's possible. Monaco and Brands Hatch are already in the game. Watkins Glen will probably come in "Racin' USA", and Monza is pretty likely to be one of the remaining track DLCs.
As we know that two Historical Track DLC's are planned, I think that something akin to these ideas is actually in the works.

I'd definitely love to be able to create my own 70's F1 season, especially seeing as, to me, Formula Retro feels like one of the most complete car classes in the game, and Formula Retro Gen2 is also probably going to have some additions within the next few days.

In general, I'm more a track guy than a car guy. Give me 2-3 good cars, and 100 tracks, and I'll be happy. 100 cars on 2-3 tracks, on the other hand? That's boring.

The beauty of a long-term project is that they can continue adding content in new areas as time goes on and AMS2 becomes the go-to for more people.

Nobody has mentioned the biggest advantage of the Madness engine yet. Console. SMS released 3 multi-platform titles across multiple generations. With current gen, who knows what is possible? Cross platform multiplayer?

For now, the focus has to be on the foundational things (physics, ffb, championships, multiplayer), but at some point the complaints will shift from that to content. That's when it will be time to look at a console release (more players, more money, more licenses, more content, win).

I hate to disagree with a well thought out post, and not to disparage the content mentioned. But I strongly disagree with the premise that AMS2 should abandon popular content because other games do it.

I agree, but in my case I wouldn’t even need this specialisation. I prefer AMS2 over all other sims because of the good driving feeling and the good VR performance with incredible graphics, night&rain and good AI opponents.
Therefore I would be happy to get tracks and cars I already have in other sims, but I want to use it in AMS2 because it gives me more joy.
I like Zandvoort for example and I know I could fire up ACC and drive there but instead I fire up AMS2 and wish that this track will arrive here some day. It’s my only go to sim in VR at the moment although I own many others.
So yeah, specialisation might be a good way for financial success but on the other hand excellent quality of the core software counts too and I will continue throwing my money to Reiza even if they don’t focus on a single race class. In my personal case I would like diversity even more...

I also don't think specialization is too important, let's be honest, having all the official tracks in F1 2020 is cool....but about half of the tracks are boring (which is why they let you run reduced seasons to skip them lol). Reiza is going after the most popular tracks and I think it is a good strategy. If they add more gt3 cars even better.

You don't need to offer a fully licensed experience like ACC or RaceRoom, you just need the most popular content. Look at GT Sport and its unbelievably large active user base of 150,000 people. PD had made their own classes and balanced them in a way that makes the players happy.

However...if Reiza wants to snag the Super GT license to boost sales in Asia/North America, I'm all for it!!!

That is not what I wanted to express. There is no argument against branching out in general, or against having many opportunities to choose from different kinds of cars/tracks.

However, there is an argument for having "that one thing" where you truly shine.

Hi mate, basically on the adaptation of the brake system, two cylinders, one rear and one front, which can be adjusted from inside the vehicle (more front or rear).

GPL had 60's Zandvoort and Mexico City in by default...and yes, they would be awesome additions as historic tracks.

Zandvoort seems to come up time and again... As one of only a couple million people globally that can pronounce "Scheivlak" properly, I second the proposal of adopting this legendary and unique track to the roster.

Since we've been on about track additions, I'd personally love to see Albert Park come to AMS2 given the existing Aussie tracks in the game and how much it'd complement the modern F1 cars in the game, especially with the planned renovations for 2021. Maybe a historic variant too (2001, I'm thinking) but who knows

Zaandvort would be very welcome too as many other people are mentioning

I'd just be happy to have some of the bugs fixed. VR HUD, pit menu crash bug and grey mirrors online for example. I'm about to clock up 600 hours in AMS2. It would be great to see some of the fundamental frustrations resolved... As well as more historic tracks.
