Custom Grid Tool

Since AMS2 uses the SMS engine, what are the chances of having the Custom Grid Tool working for AMS2?

 

Custom Grid Tool was made for pCARS2, not pCARS2 was made vor CGT.
So you'll have to ask the author of it to make that adaption to AMS2.

Obviously not expecting the PC2 mod to work but I really hope Reiza see fit to create something like this - I don't care if it's outside the main game UI

 

have you tried going to pCARS forum and send cowtrobot a PM?

 

I considered that but assumed he is not accessing it. Anyway, just tried.

Probably not without any changes. But probably not that difficult. AMS2 even shares memory with other apps using a "Project Cars2" option...

 

it started with the source of pCARS2. It was enhanced and reprogrammed, but the DNA is the same.
So the chance is high

Updated: Just figured why. I think he's got it, now just have to wait and finger crossed...

 

Something interesting. I just tried to use the Custom Grid Tool 2 (PC2 version of the tool) and it almost worked. Apparently it can see some cars, probably those that have some data in common with PC2, but most of the cars are absent, unfortunately.

 

i think, cowtrobot has to update the internal database of his tool
Lots of work. You'll have to extract all car bffs to get rcfs and crd files.
Though there are some equal cars, the entries in the rcfs ar not the same for pCARS and AMS2

 

Hm, I see. I thought that data was extracted from the game files.

But there is something else. Custom Grid Tool 2 uses the GME (Generic Mod Enabler) to get active/inactive.

When I try to activate it and try to start the game, it crashes and opens the dialog bellow. If I make it inactive the game runs normally:



So, probably something else must be adjusted.

 

I loved Grid Tool in PC2. The ability to individually pick the exact cars and liveries into a custom class. That really should be default, when Reiza eventually start concentrating more on customisation side.

 

Yes, and in AMS1 we could whatever we wanted with vehicles and talent files. My dream is that, after fixing the urgent things (like this horrendous AI we have now), Reiza creates something that allows us to choose cars and drivers for a race, why not?

 

A bit late to this conversation but any news on a tool like this for AMS 2?
