AMS2 - User Livery Overrides

    The ability to create skins with different finishes to then such as chrome, matte, metallic seems to have snuck in without much fanfare. I thought this would be something worth mentioning along the way

    Does anyone knows why Reiza decided to do that ?
    Could it be possible to set it ?
    Like many others, i have been converting skin for so many hours and now some have disappear !!
    Reiza, please correct that ! :(

    It was a hard thing to do but we did it to make room for further additions to the grid line-up.

    But i think GT3/GT4 at least need much more liveries per car.For me 10 slot per car in those category would be great.

    Would you mind explaining how this system works? If one car has more liveries than the others, is it more likely to be selected by the game, and thus one car might be over-represented when selected in a class? Pardon my confusion - to be transparent, I'm staunchly on the "we should be able to add more liveries" train, but I totally understand if limitations of the Madness engine are currently preventing it.

    So Rob that means when it comes to GT3 we ll get 2 other GT3-cars than it fits with 6 cars each brand : 6 x 6 = 36 < 40 (per class)

    for AI this system is ok(ish), but sometimes in the future i wish we get a steamID bound system with steam workshop access or someting like trading paints. Also the folder/file based skin system AC uses is a nice option if it had an automated distribution feature. We could have as many skins as we need.
    I think the main problem is, that this damn reading and initializing of the available skins/skinpacks is only on game start. Very inflexible what SMS has done for "Need for Speed" back in the days.

    Couldn't possibly comment further :whistle:

    I will say that the reason for the removal of some skins is for game stability reasons and to factor in new additions to the grid still to come down the line.

    32 liveries per multiple car class is the limit but we realised that if we went with 32 livs on something like GT3, that series would have like 3 skins for each car once we filled the grid line up so we went with 40 for the bigger series (GT1,3,4 etc)

    Hope this clears things up some?

    Will it be possible to release skinpacks. For example, in Germany there are the DTM and ADAC GT Masters or VLN, so that you can create multiple liveries and drive them as a package?

    such packs can officially only be released when licenced by Reiza.
    On the other side you can create or maybe find such packs at Race Department or the Discord in my signature

    I'm having an issue with custom liveries for 1 car model. Yesterday I was modifying ginetta_g55_gt4.xml (with the reduced amount of liveries I wanted to change a few things). It worked well at first and I managed to get some of my more favourite skins to show. And then all of a sudden it reverted to the reiza skins and whatever I did, I could not get the custom skins back anymore. I have now tried:
    - removed all custom files in that folder. (only keeping the dist)
    - reinstalling the liveries for the ginetta from scratch
    - removing the entire folder for the ginetta, rebooting, and reinstalling liveries
    - change some filenames to try to get the right results.

    But the liveries remain the default reiza liveries, whatever I do.
    Any ideas?

    thx, it was valid.

    However I found out what it was. The folder was mixed up with the Ginetta G40 Supercup liveries which go under xx_GT4_2.

    I wonder, has it always been so and is my mind playing tricks on me? :D

    oh @Rob Thompson your mathematical solution will serve us 10 GT3 cars at least . 3 skins each car = 10 GT3 x 3 livs (liveries) each car = 30 (livs). 2 liveries in residue.

    The amount of GT3 cars would be OK, the amount of liveries per brand a catastrophy :D

    mathematical the formula is ok.
    But if i start a GT3 league, there could be 15 Porsche-, 8 Mercedes- , 3 BMW- an 2 McLaren-drivers. And thats not possible with this cut off.
    Even with team liveries.

    Yeah, that „livery limitation“ causes us all quite a headache
