why are walls and armco barriers slowing the car down this crazy?
and how does this slip through betas and early access till now?

this isnt happening in PC2, or in other sims.

reported it twice in bug reports, it's really annoying because with that issue I can't use my driving style :)
I really hope REIZA can fix it

Maybe it’s not a bug but a feature? Built in extra penalty to compensate for the unrealistic discount on damage repairs.

It hasn't slipped through beta and EA! It a known issue since day 1 ;) it must just be a hard thing to fix and I'm sure Reiza are trying to find a solution.

I hope they get it sorted for v1.0. I rarely bother with Monaco at the moment, because the slightest touch "grabs" your car and slows it to a crawl. Totally immersion breaking.

Really? I think if you slap a wall in Monaco in reality you would be out of the race ... the cranes at a race weekend are not standing there because cranes are cool.
Ok, ok, the walls are not helping you to be fast but this is also not snooker  and Reiza as mentioned is looking into this.

I suppose there should be a compromise in the damage OFF mode between stopping the car and just allowing people to hit the barriers and ride along them without a penalty like in an arcade mode. Perhaps if they are on the barrier for more than a second the car defaults to being damaged with bent steering?

Congratulations on your moronicly condescending answer, but you clearly didn't bother to read my post properly.

Am I talking about slamming into a wall and continuing on at full speed with no damage? Very obviously I am not.

    hey guys,
have you ever seen an oval race?
Is the car stopped when touching the wall as in AMS2?
There are many examples to watch how touching a wall reacts in real life, but a here's one (sad for Emerson Fittipaldi)

Nobody wants to hit the wall at full speed without damage or reduced speed but when sliding against and light touching it's absolutely inacceptable that this will end up in a spin or fully braked down car!

or take this one, it's not so sad

it is about scrapping a wall, which is something which does happen on all road courses, and with touring cars there isnt much happening in terms of damage etc. if they scrap a wall.

afair, Renato answered anywhere, that its a really hard to catch and they need time to hammer it, as its not so simple as they thought.
I'm sure, they haven't forgot about that issue ;)

Yeah, it's so annoying. I was grazing the barriers at Monaco on most corner exits, and it was like I was hitting the brakes. :(
It's like the 'magnetic' kerbs in PC2, but transferred to the walls instead.

Slappng and glancing are very different and tts glancing thats wrong. Lits of f1 drivers have glanced a wall only to leave a tyre scuff and not be slowed down that much

    Hi all,

I was just scratching the walls at Bathurst. To my suprise, there wasn't an emergency stop of the car :) !!

I haven't tried any other track but is it possible that Reiza has fixed this issue??
    What's your experience with walls?

Better than it was but still the slightest touch can scrub too much speed off, only needs a little tweak i think

I previously encountered major sticky Armco around Monaco. I’ll have to see if they stealth fixed it.

it really seems to be better now. You can scratch the wall / armco without emergency stop
