We are thinking Thursday evening or Saturday evenings. It’s dependent on when the most people are available.

"all skill levels are encouraged to participate"

I'll be there. Look out for the slow, scared one with the Learner plate on the back.

Hi there. Don't know if this is the right place to say so, but anyway...

I just wanted to say thanks very much for last Saturday night (my Sunday morning). It was pretty much my first attempt at an online racing session. As an absolute beginner, of a nervous disposition, my only two goals were to finish each race and not to cause any crashes or otherwise make a d*ck of myself. I fully acknowledge that I may have committed a few minor sins, but overall I was pretty happy with my performance.

Being slower than a wet week actually gave me my greatest satisfaction of the evening. Being lapped multiple times (and I mean multiple!) and allowing each car to pass cleanly (I hope) each time meant that I confirmed that I have at least one "safe racing" competency under my belt already.

The hardest thing I found was keeping track of chat communications. In VR and wearing gloves, well... lets just say Im looking forward to getting the logistics better organised. My only complaint was not being able to finish my allocated laps... but I'll get to the post race burn-outs soon enough :D

Anyway, thanks again for a great session. Great cars! Great drivers! Looking forward to doing it again.

As me and Prophet/Gashina have been playing around with different tracks and cars, I had some thoughts about the future for this league:

Cars: I love all the open wheel F1 cars in game aside from the ultra modern ones. As new as I will go is the FV10 G2. Some of these cars are far less polished than others. The F-Retros have a lot of potential, as do the F-Vintages, but they're not quite right yet. They need some work. So my proposals are we rotate through the following, according to whims of the participants:
    1. Formula Classic G2 - 1987-88
    2. Formula Classic G3 - 1991
    3. Formula V12 - 1995
    4. Formula V10 G1 - 1996
    5. Formula V10 G2 - 2001
I dont know which are the most popular... the FV12 has a kind of insane feel to it, but its fun once you get a feel for it. The Classic G3 and the V10 G1 I think are my favorites for now, but I think it's good to rotate through. Let me know what yall think.

Circuits: In addition to rotating through various 80s-90s F1 cars, I think we should rotate through various tracks. In the interests of knowing our options, I went through the in-game list to see what the options are. I think we would remove or add some of these depending on exactly which cars we are using depending on the era and whether the track is era correct for those cars, but I think we should be pretty lenient on that as well, so I was a little loose with eras. Obviously we can do anything we want. Here is the list of what I think are appropriate tracks.
    • Adelaide 88 (1985-1995)
    • Azure/Monaco (All)
    • Brands Hatch (1964-1986)
    • Cascais/Estoril (1984-1996)
    • Donnington Park (1993)
    • Hockenheim (1977-2019)
    • Imola 88 (1980-94)
    • Imola 01 (1995-2006)
    • Interlagos GP (1990-2019)
    • Jacarepagua (1978-1989)
    • Jerez (1986-1997)
    • Kyalami New (1992-1993)
    • Montreal (1978-2020)
    • Kansai/Suzuka (1987-2019)
    • Silverstone (1950-2020)
    • Spielberg/Redbull Ring (1996+)
Honorable mentions: Campo Grande, Bathurst, and maybe Ibarra. These deserve a mention, but F1 never raced on these. Ibarra is likely much more suited to the older cars, but it's a blast to drive.

I also believe I recall hearing that the Nurburgring (with GP circuit) is on the list, as well as Spa with historic version, including an early 90s version with "real curbs". When these happen I think we will have a pretty impressive list of tracks to choose from for our seasons. I think we should keep the seasons short, 6-8 races, but I think there are a lot of good tracks. We currently have 16, with Spa and Nurburgring coming, that will be 18. We could do a full length proper season without hitting the same countries more than once if we wanted to!

    Notes from my research:
    • Jerez didnt have the chicane until 1994. So I propose we use classic Jerez for our first season.
    • For Montreal, the current casino straight layout was established in 1996.
    • Silverstone has nearly every variation available
    • Hockenheim is obvious as well, but I particularly dislike old Hockenheim. I am okay with using new Hockenheim as much as possible.
    • The new version of Kyalami is relatively similar to the one used in the late 80s, but it suits modern cars as well. I think its a fantastic track and I think we should race anything on it. I cant explain it, but I just thoroughly enjoy racing there.
    • I am eager to get the new historic versions of Spa and the Nurburgring, but I also heard rumblings months back about how there would be a historic version of Estoril coming. If that happens that would be fantastic!
    • Cascais/Estoril and Jacarepagua get overlooked too often! Jacarepagua is a really challenging circuit due to the curbs. It almost drives like a street circuit.
Notice the difference in T1-T3, the awful chicane was added in 1993.

So will it be on the saturdays? I really look forward to join a long lasting F1 league, however it my participation really depends on which day of the week and time of the day this will be running.

My available times (all UTC/GMT) are:
    • monday to thursday: 16h-18h, 21h-11h.
    • saturday and sunday: any time.

Saturday seems liek the most agreeable day. I figured a weekday would be easier, but it hasnt really panned out that way.
