I only did a quick Lolas race at Laguna, after trying other things, but they could be a surprise favourite :D

It's still good to have an ''indicator'' of potential/average top speed regardless of minor influences of altitude, gearing etc... It is one of the first things i noticed when looking at the new cars, that they have no marker of potential top speed. When you ask about a car in real life, one might say, ''what is the top speed''? This allows the player to know which car is going to fly by on the long straights, etc, etc, etc.....Miura vs BMW 2002 for example, a massive difference in top speed, so the indicator is very good for working out multi-class pairings/player choice, IMO.

Hello, here are my thoughts on the new DLC.

The content offered isn't my favorite. After trying it out, I must admit I enjoyed driving the GT2, GT1, and GTR. The sound is good, and the handling is good. The gear shift animation is still missing (when you select automatic transmission in the menu, it breaks the immersion).
The LMP cars are enjoyable, although I personally find the cockpit view sound lacking. It seems muffled.
I was able to test the TAA on a single screen, and I find the game more visually appealing despite a few issues like the borders and the Audi LMP's windshield, where the result isn't clean.

Regarding the tracks, there are few changes compared to the current versions. I noticed on Spa 2005 (both versions) that a barrier disappears a little too early at the La Source corner. Without the test, I probably wouldn't have bought the DLC.

I don't know what it is about those Lolas, probably the tiny cockpit, but it feels like you're going a million miles an hour, everywhere, all the time, despite being slower than the LMP1s.
    Love it!

It is actually getting there now. Just finished a test of the AI, 25 minute Le Mans 2005 race with the GT1 new class and holy moly the AI racing is actually GOOD ! Reiza had done something with the AI where it no longer felt predictable, easy to exploit or artificial !

AI was actually defending a whole lot more against me and each other, T1 was no longer a nonsensical train (it is fixed on modern layout too), it was a fair and constant back and fort between me and one Maserati AI for P10 and it was amazing !

I have to run a whole lot more tests and record it for futher review but i was genuinely impressed and i think for the first time since playing AMS2 walked away from an AI race session feeling like i had a GREAT time.

What i had noticed thought that still needs improving - AI need to do a better job at going around stopped cars, whether it is the player or other AI they need to be more aggressive instead of slamming the brakes every time when a car is on the side of the track.

So do I just install the update over the top of the previous names file? Reason I ask is that when I went in and looked at what is there now before this update, there were all of the mod files as well as the Reiza ones. But this update has fewer files in it. That's what is confusing me. I'm very paranoid about updates in general especially in file maintenance.

It's not just you. Use MSAA in VR and be happy.

What Dave is referring to with track variables are things like the length of the main straight where the top speed will be achievable; some cars might have a potential for 350 km/h top speed driving 10 km an "infinite straight" oval test track, but for most actual race tracks we have in the game they wouldn´t have enough straight to go over 300 km/h; if we pair that car with another that has a measly top speed of 220 km/h, but one that it can get close to reaching in most tracks with a decently long straight, those top speed figures give a misleading impression of the relative performance of these two cars; one can get as reliable an impression of the car´s straightline performance from the engine specs and the car´s weight. Throw in the fact manufacturers might insist on having us feature their official figures rather than what we have actually measured to be possible in the simulation and it might be easier to understand why we´d rather do away with having that debate altogether :)

As an oltimer in the forum and member of the Paddock I´m sure you aware already career is planned for 2026, so from that you may infer the answer to your question :)

There are several things in parallel development for career mode to be of any actual value, it´s not just AI; there is the in-game structure for career which itself is probably the most demanding and time consuming project we´ll develop for AMS2; there are several simulation and gameplay features that are either necessary or very valuable for career mode especially; finally and crucially there are bits of content that are still to arrive, without which the career would be a ladder with missing steps running on a calendar full of holes. I mean we have enough there for a fairly cohesive Brazilian motorsports career and that´s surely going to be an interesting one but I don´t think it´s what the people pushing for Career Mode are really looking for the most :)

Indiividual user´s mileage may and does vary of course as it does for everything; many of them probably would be satisfied with something that connected the dots we already have and we appreciate that, but if there has been one thing we have been consistent in our communication about AMS2 development since even before it´s release is that Career Mode would be the last thing we were going to deliver for it, precisely because we reckon it requires all these other components to be in place to make sense for us to offer it; I happen to agree that a career mode with the amount of content and features that AMS2 has would be amazing but it is precisely for that reason that we don´t want to half-ass it. People are welcome to not like that strategy, but it has always been thus and is not going to change.

It´s frankly a bit bemusing that this would be such a hard concept to grasp that we keep having to explain it even to those who got the answer already; it´s even more bewildering that often times it´s to the same people that are often complaining about issues with AI, missing content or features which begs the question why would they want a career mode when from their perspective even single race gameplay is falling short as it is; that would just make your frustration with such issues (real or perceived) exponentially worse.

Unless of course the point is just to complain, in which case I don´t think the problem is with AMS2 or our development plan for it :)

In an online or offline race, is there a way to see what tires the other drivers or A.I. are using?

I experiment the same, I played with all the sharpening settings, but seems to be indipendendent. As long as I don't move the head much is tolerable.. Are you using virtual desktop? I use it in godlike with reoprojection

Thanks, this happens because we relax the TAA when the screen velocity is high to quickly update the temporal history which reduces the chance of any blurring from lingering history occurring. This threshold might be too aggressive in VR, we can bump it up a bit.

Just a question : after the release of the career mode in 2026, the game will still going to get content ?

I think it might be slightly too aggressive for VR. It can happen when going through a chicane and turning left to right quickly. Generally though it doesn't happen unless you force it to.
