Hello everybody ( and especially Server admins ;) )

Our french league will organize on sunday Aug 7 its first test Open Race ... and to get the best result for it, I'd be pleased to receive some best advices from some specialists.

I already drove on Rfactor servers but never administrated them ... and as both Automobilista and RF use the same kind of servers ... I'm totally new on it.
Most rules are obvious to guess in the server launcher of course.... but maybe there are other points I'm not aware of. ( maybe to modify in the multiplayer.ini )

For example, what about penalties in race session ? forcing a pitstop or not ? best damage % ? ....

Thanks in advance for your answers, which I'm sure will help me to get the best result at the very start of this new adventure.

    Hello Jempy.

I`m gonna write some parameters that i think it`s important for a race, on both Multiplayer.ini and .plr file.
    About the ones you mentioned:
-> Penalties in race session: Usually is used with Black Flags only. So dunno what changes to Full Rules (maybe someone can give a hint).
-> Forcing a pitstop or not: If i`m not mistaken, there is no option to enforce pit stops.
-> best damage %: Commonly used on 100% (represents almost real damage). You can set lower values (50) if it`s an amateur league and don`t want everybody out on the first lap with a big crash.

    Multiplayer.ini

    • Net Connection Type (usually set to LAN = 5). Can be set on the tool itself.
    • Spectators When Closed="1" -> (usually set to 0). Important for the broadcasters. If they have a problem while on race (crash to desktop), they can come back as a Spectator and resume.
    • Mismatch Response="2" -> (usually set to 3). If you use custom skin or mod on your server, if left on 3 it can cause the player to join on Practise/Warmup and don`t notice a possible problem listed through the chat window (client mismatch, series mismatch, etc..). When the server changes to Qualy or Race, the player gets disconnected. When set to 2, it will kick immediately, forcing the player to try to figure it out what`s wrong.
    • Allowed Auto Lift="0" and Allowed Auto Blip="0" -> This settings are not avaible on the Tool itself. So, if you don`t want to allow them, you need to set it to 0 in the file.
    • Must Be Stopped="0" -> Forces the driver to stop the car before he can come back to monitor. It is usually changed to 1 for the broadcasting (prevents TV showing the car and suddenly the car is on the Pit)!
    • Delay Between Sessions="30.00000" and Delay After Race="90.00000" -> You can set lower values on these settings if you don`t fell like waiting to much for the session changes.

    .PLR

    • Run Warmup="1" -> (usually set to 0). Set to 1 to have a warmup session before race!
    • Practice1StartingTime="780" , QualifyingStartingTime="600" , WarmupStartingTime="780", MULTI RaceStartingTime="840" -> Minutes after midnight that each session will start.
    • MULTI PrivateQualifying="1" -> Change it to 1 if you want a private Qualify (some leagues prefer private to avoid sliptream abuse etc...)
    • MULTI InitialTrackConditions="2" and MULTI TrackProgressionRate="1" -> Settings for the track. Not avaible to the tool itself, so if you want different values than the default ones (Medium and Normal), you need to change here.

Thanks for your tips, Erick ;) .... I'd wish to be able to add different ratings ... but it cannot, so I had to choose one of them even though it deserved nearly 6 or 7 possibilities:cool:

About the penalties, someone knows the difference between "black only" and "full"?

    Found this in the .PLR!
    Flag Rules="2" // Level of rule enforcement, 0=none, 1=penalties only, 2=penalties & full-course yellows

Back with a question for an advice about those 2 lines of the plr file in dedicated server:

Testing yesterday night our preparing server for the race, I noticed that except fuel and pitstop settings, most other settings modifications were impossible between qualifying session and race.
I suppose then that the best setting might be QUICK ParcFerme="0" ?
But in this case, which setting choose for MULTI ParcFerme="?" ?

Sorry to ask once more, but I like precision in what I'm doing. :D

Thanks in advance for an answer. ;)
    Erick maybe ? :)

If i'm not mistaken, the QUICK settings are either for the Quick Race settings or for the sessions created in the game!

If you're hosting through the dedicated, always change the MULTI parameters.

About the parc ferme, setting with the value = 3 will use the configuration from your .Srs serie file.
If enabled, it will work exactly like this. Once you go for your lap on Qualy, it will block the setup you've set, allowing only to change a few things.
If you don't want to block it at all, just set to 0.

    Thanks Erick once more ;)
As there's no "parc ferme" settings in the multi ini .... this parameter is only private choice for each driver in his own game as I may conclude.

    I don't think that's a player choice.
It's a series choice ( Series folder, REIZA01.srs file for example).
If you open the file and look for parc, you will find the predefinition of this parameter for this car.

The configuration from the Dedicated Server profiler can overwrite this setting.
