Esc key

Hi all, anyone know if the esc key function can be remapped to elsewhere? I have a couple of button boxes set up and don't like reaching over the top of my wheel every time I wish to escape back to the pits and would like to map it to one of the boxes.

Probably with some app like xpadder (or vjoyconfig, I think)?

This was annoying for me too. So I made my own button box out of a keyboard circuit board and made sure I have the esc and spacebar buttons on there.
