@Petrolhead You are right its a complete joke. But honestly I think there is a lot of more severe bugs to be sorted out first
Never felt anything wrong with the grass... sometimes I can get all four wheels on the grass at relatively high speeds and still manage to not loose the car and bring it back, and other times it slides, but it depends on a variety of factors. I watched a GT3 race on youtube some time ago where one of the cars went a bit wide and into the grass and suddenly out of nowhere it started to spin like an ice skating ballerina. He didn't even looked like he was going that fast to justify what happened, but it did.
I think the formula cars are too jumpy when on grass or gravel, like if they had no suspension. This effect is a bit exxagerated, I think.
I really think it depends on the car and tires. Eg: the Hotcars become undriveable, meaning even at low throttle you can't safely drive back on to the track. But the GT4 Ginetta, although pretty bad on the grass, isn't as horrible as the Hotcars. I'm wondering if they simulated treads and no treads on the tire. But I agree with the OP, in it's current state it is pretty bad.
I reckon the loss of traction when you dip a couple of wheels on the dirt/grass is spot on. But, its way too bumpy when you have a full off-road safari. It should be bumpy, but about 3 x less so than current.
good luck mate, I asked the very same thing some time ago and I've been eaten alive by all the negative comments. glad to see I'm not the only one having problem with grass in ams2, surely the worst in any sim title so far.
I think most of the answers here are pretty reasonable - but Im a bit unsure if the few people saying there is no problem are doing it just to support Reiza. Because at least the formula cars I normally drive are complete bullocs on the grass. ByTheWay: By "bullocs" I mean both loosing all grip on grass but also getting 1000% exaggerated bumping and "air launch"
Just watch this and see what could happen if going onto grass... More is not to say...except, Max is definitive a son of Jos...
