The sound from the rear perspective is very pleasant—powerful and full of passion, much better than the dull sound inside the car. I hope there can be an option to listen to the rear sound while inside the car. This shouldn't be too difficult, right?
No racing car sounds the same inside as it does from the outside, especially right outside the exhaust tip. The new BMW M3 GTR is a great example - go have a listen to the genuine vehicle on Youtube and you'll hear just how close the in-game sound is to the real thing with how loud the straight-cut gears are compared to the exhaust.
External sounds are incredible, I would love a slider in the options to blend the external sound into the cockpit to the users preference
The engine sounds of other cars from the in-car perspective are too quiet. Even when turned up to 100%, it's useless—I can't hear them at all. When being lapped by higher-class cars, it's as if a group of silent ghosts is passing by.
With all due respect, again, that's pretty realistic. I promise I'm not just being difficult I think you just need to temper your expectations. What you could do as a compromise is keep opponent volume at 100% and then lower everything else comparatively until you've got them as loud as you think is right for you. With that said, I did a couple of test runs with a massive mix of multi-class around Le Mans and to be honest, my imagination says the V10 Formula 1 that passed me should have been way louder than it was from inside my F3 car . So perhaps it's not 100% black and white.
On my system, I can clearly hear opponent cars when set to 90% or higher. I use headphones with HP-Mix enabled + Helmet View On / No audio enhancements in Windows or Audio driver (SoundBlaster Direct Mode). There may be some cars that are not as loud but that might be a volume balancing issue or just based on real life in certain cases. Also, reduced Player Engine volume can help, mine is about 80%.
Came here to suggest this option. Mix the sound between internal and external individually would be very cool. Love the external gurgling sound with backfires of the aston martin vantage so much.
