The idea behind this topic is to give the possibility for us as a community to compare real life recordings of onboard laps with simililar car-track combos in Automobilista 2 and giving the possibility to recreate these. Often reading discussions about how close real life onboards really come to the simulated reality was igniting the spark to support it with potential actual visual comparison! The topic will still surely remain its subjective character after all without having all the data at hand, so let's keep it civilized if discussions occur. :p

For a start here are some examples, what laps and car experiences could be recreated ingame.

BMW M6 and Mercedes AMG GT3 at Spa-Franchorchamps:

    Porsche GT3-Cup at Interlagos:

    Stock Car 2020 at Londrina:

Also some "similar-ish" picks might be interesting and some tracks might not yet being included in AMS2, but confirmed to arrive soon.

The 1974 Hesketh from James Hunt at Monaco:

1978 Lotus 79 at Laguna Seca (this one probably drives without full skirts, it seems)

Especially a helmet/visor-mounted camera, delivers a pretty good perspective for such comparisons. Post your real life suggestions and/or comparison sim-laps here. :)

I will also give it a try later

Renato actually got the idea! :)
I will probably not reach the quality to include the IRL onboard and my own lap side to side in one video, i'm just no content creator or accurate "recreation-lapper" (tempted to actually do M23 at Monaco, but need a bit of practice to keep it away from the walls, but this onboard above is actually quite calm pace). But the idea of having the possibility to somewhere show "look, this car actually doesn't look so far off" or "look how far off it seems" is nice to have nevertheless.

    Aha R.S. well good idea.
Just been looking for candidate vids. U tube. There are a lot to choose from and some nice historic tracks, and also from The "Masters GP Series" Mansell's pole lap.
(sadly due to squabbling ex champions lol) short lived series .

Good luck with the M23 at Monaco if u give it a go.
May get me back behind the wheel this week (no fault of the sim), so inspirational.
No creator or fast enough, here but would be nice to have the split screen vid thing.

    I know it's not AMS 2, but...
    Real onboard Semetin

    Richard Burns Rally onboard Semetin

Caterham on Oulton Park. Neal Evans is awesome.

Oh and here's a video on Healy Pass Ireland. Been there myself as well.

More of a "first try" but at least something. When you start my video at the moment, the Hesketh video hits 0:31, you might have a little bit of a comparison going on. Was on the wrong grid spot (oopsie :D) and AMS2 doesn't support formation laps for standing start so it needs a bit of pre-running. I'm actually impressed how close steering angles came between sim and RL (At least in slower corners, where cornering speed was more matching, my lap was a tiny bit faster, because the RL event was on relatively low pace, understandably). Also the way, the car needs to "settle-in" and plows until it kicks out the rear is not that far off. (In formation lap, the Hesketh shows this a bit)

This thread will be "overhauled" and reposted due to sheer amount of suggestions awaiting inclusion and overview. I will link to it, as soon, as it exists!!:)

Holy moly - this guy was a genius - and pretty brave too :D
This 1st lap at Monaco was pretty fantastic.
    Thanks for posting:)

ByTheWay: Watching all Hunts overtakings at the first lap reminds me partly of some of Kevin Magnussens 1st laps "take-no-prisoners" last year. :p
Because just like Hunts Hesketh was an "underdog" car then even worse was Magnussens Haas.

    To Clarify:
The driver in video above 'James Hunt Hesketh' is not James Hunt. It is the 57 year Jean-Denis Del├ętraz (go pro camera ) Monaco Historic f1 2021

'Back in the day' with a Ballsy Senna. For a historic Fast lap
Just listen to that throttle and as for steering inputs. Nice

I would love the old Monaco and the older still version. As T1 Modern is too slow and tight same as chicane (safety yet again :( killing fast historic tracks)

It is great to see how relaxed they are driving (especially the Porsche driver at Interlagos with both hands off wheel).
For all who are still doubt if AMS2 is realistic or not I only can say:
Either the real world is arcade or AMS2 is doing everything right and simulates the real world !

    OH.
So the headline above was just fake news
I demand to see a video of the @REAL James Hunt on the @REAL Monaco track.:p
Not just a substitude of the real thing:whistle:

ByTheWay: Understanding that its just a "reconstruction" of a F1 race with expensive collectors own historic cars then its easier to understand that the fake Hunts competitors move away overly polite  as soon as they see him in their rear mirror.
I guess that if we had something of the same attitude in virtual MP races then even I would be a fan of MP participation.:p

Here's some AMS2 onboard for ya. Some GoPro helmet cam style footage of an A.I. race at Kyalami Historic. Shot in 4K/60p - YouTube will take a couple more days to mangle the 4K, but the 1080p is available now.

Really nice effort! Augmented reality is a nice thing in addition!
Your YT game description says rF2 in the game tab, btw.

Hey thanks man. I just got this GoPro, so I'll be doing some more of these. I didn't put the rF2 on there, YouTube did. I don't know how to change it, but something should be done about it, because AMS2 needs all the help it can get promotion-wise. Perhaps Reiza could reach out to YT?

Edit : Found how to change it but there is no logo or thumbnail for the game.
