Hi, everyone, I have a question regarding random weather slots. As far as I know we can't deselect weather types for random weather slots. So it can be a sunny cloudless day up to a heavy storm. I read that the random weather is also determined by the location and time of year. So for example, it will less likely rain on Barcelona in the summer as on Silverstone in autumn. So far so good. But what about other weather slots? Are they taken into account? If I set something up like this: 1. weather slot: Clear 2. weather slot: Random 3. weather slot: Clear Will there be very low chances to get Heavy Rain?
I think the chances stay the same, but I haven't really tested it. You can verify it rather quickly by doing a short 20 min session with sync weather, it will go through those 3 slots in 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, a quick test session wouldn't help much. Even if I would get Heavy Rain at the random weather slot with the first test, would'nt mean that the chances were high or even. I could just be unlucky while testing. To find out an approximate probability, I would have to do a lot of these tests. But I appreciate your suggestion!
I would recommend just using Real Weather. You can guarantee you'll get weather that makes sense. And most crucially, you won't know whether the weather will change or not. So OP in your example, whatever happens with the random slot, you know it will stop raining completely and be a clear sky for last 1/3 of the race. If you use Real Weather, that sense of dynamism will boost your immersion by a large amount. One note with Real Weather (and with slots if you choose sync to race), is that LiveTrack and Real weather are directly linked to Time Progression. So if you choose x60 time progression and it starts to rain, the track will get soaked at x60 times faster than it would in real life. It might only be raining for a few seconds and the track will be undriveable immediately, not giving you time to go to the pits. So use x5 or x10 time progression for best results.
You are right - Real Weather has the most realistic feeling and I'm very happy that this option exists. My goal is to set the weather so that it is only vaguely predictable, but still realistic for the respective class. If I set Real Weather, then there will be sometimes a Heavy Storm. This is totally realistic. But driving a Gokart in a Heavy Storm is not. If I would check before the race to see what the weather was like at the time of the track, to make sure that there will be no Heavy Storm, then I will be totally spoiled. As I'm running MP sessions from time to time with my brother, I don't want to trial and error with Real Weather and will instead choose weather slots. I guess, currently there is no option that would satisfy my goal completely.
