RWB are holding a dual driver endurance event on Saturday 18th February.

It will be a 3hr long race with 2 people sharing the driving. Teams will be picked by club admins with the goal that all teams are balanced - the fastest most experienced drivers will be paired with the slower and/or less experienced drivers so that every single team has a real chance to win the event.

Please find all the juicy details below.

    Qualy starts at 8:30pm (UK)
    Race starts at 9pm

Cars - EEC LMS GTE (v1.7) - a choice of

    Ford GT
    Chevrolet Corvette
    Aston Martin
    Porsche
    Ferrari

The EEC LMS mod requires the EEC GT3 mod - both are available from the EEC website and if you have problems getting hold of them please get in touch with me and I'll help.

    Track - Daytona International Raceway

Race length - 3hrs realtime (30 hrs simulated)

Each driver must do 90 minutes driving during the race - this can be split up any way a team wants but will be checked after the race with time penalties given. A grace time of 5 mins will be allowed then for every minute over that, a 10 second penalty will be applied to that team. Teams are responsible for how long they spend on track.

    Qualifying - 30 minutes
Each driver must do 15 minutes each

    Dual Driving Info:

AMS allows you to swap drivers during play. This happens when a car pitstops. The first driver joins the server and picks a car. The 2nd driver joins as a spectator and goes into passenger mode. Once this happens the live driver can select this other driver when they pitstop and they take control of the car. This puts the other driver in spectator mode who can then be swapped back in as the driver again when wanted.

There will be a full test night to get to grips with this process on Wednesday 16th February and drivers must be familiar in how to swap drivers before the event.

    Other race info

In-game race start time is 6am. Time progression is x10 and the race will cover 30 virtual hrs including a full day-night-day cycle.

    Tyre wear x 2
    Fuel use x 2
    Damage 50%
    Rolling start
    All assists allowed

You can sign up for the event here - Sign Up Form

It's really important that if you sign up you turn up otherwise you are letting down your teammate. If you are unsure you can make it you can sign up as a reserve driver.

We are still working on some fine details and will update as we finalise them.

    Cheers.

Sounds awesome. I've done a Daytona 24 hr cycle event (but only over 1 hour) driving a Ford GT in another sim and it was amazing fun. I've never done a driver swap so that will definitely take some practice.

My main concern is that these cars and this track are done well enough so that you can see at night. Oh also, do you know if the fuel consumption of these cars are identical? How about tire wear?

Hi, we've done some testing, and it gets dark, but not so dark that it's not doable. And the track is lit up in most sections.

Tire wear and fuel consumption is similar on the cars, but driving style will make up for some differences, tactics will absolutely come into play here, you also need to keep tabs on the time since both drivers have to 90 minutes each, so when to pit and when to do driver swaps, that is the question :)

As Audi says it's nice at night, well lit and pretty :)

Not sure how they all compare on fuel and tyre wear but the Corvette looks quickest on top speed but more tail happy than say the Ford but in test races, pretty evenly matched.

Nevermind, found the gt3 mod on their forum page.
FB wouldn't let me see the full post with the link.

I already got the gt3 mod installed, but one of the earlier versions.
Do you know, do i need to install all the updates up to 1.9 or will just installing the 1.9 do ?

    Cheers

Think it should be enough to install the 1.9 over your existing version. Not 100% sure that will work, but think so.

Ok, thanks. Will try to join the server and see if there's any mismatches.
If i don't get any mismatches it means i have all the right files installed ?

Mixing the EEC GT3 mod with the boxer cup's could be a nice idea for a endurance race!

Yes it would be nice, but the EEC GTE's are fairly balanced, and the boxer cup isn't balanced with the EEC mods. But absolutely on for a future event

I'd normally go for dual class cars in an Endurance event but with 2 drivers per car we'd need 30-40 people signed up to have a decent number of cars directly competing with each other!

The original plan was to go for GTE and LMS but there are lots of great combo's.

Bumping this up, we still got plenty room for more drivers, everyone is eligible, abilities is nothing to worry about as long as your clean.

Our endurance server is up and running, RWB Endurance, please jump in at any time and do some laps, discord details in opening post if you have any questions, usually peeps from the club online every night.

Hi All - the race is this weekend and we are aiming to pick teams asap - 14 main drivers signed up and 4 reserves plus 7 people posted times that haven't signed up so if you want to race please sign up asap here.

We are striving to get teams where everyone has a fighting chance to win the race so anyone late to the show risks being put in a less balanced team. If we have a few last minute drivers that together would form too strong a team we might change the teams at the last minute but want to avoid this if we can so team mates have as long as possible to work together in race prep.

The formal practice session is on Wednesday at 9:30pm (UK) and will help greatly in getting everyone familiar with the driver swap process. There is a post in the thread here on the RWB forums that more or less describes the swap process so worth a read, but hands on experience is essential prior to the race if you want to avoid problems with it.

    Thanks.

Teams based on current main drivers below - we've done our best to try and balance the teams.
    • Speeddmon & Al
    • Bull & Neal
    • Evil & Audi
    • Rodders & Marco
    • Rygel & Koba
    • Supa & Jynn
    • Helmit & Adam
    • Hashegotabeard & Clement Verneau
The last pairing was a last minute one after Hash changed from reserve to main driver and Clement just signed up so teams might yet change as we endeavour to make them all as balanced as possible.

Practice session tonight at 9:30pm to drill the driver swaps. Please find a cheat sheet below based on what we've learned so far:

    Pre-reqs
    • Assign a key to
      • Passenger select
      • Pit request
      • LCD Mode
      • LCD up
      • LCD Down
      • LCD Increase
      • LCD Decrease
    • Driver 1 joins server as normal and picks a car
    • Driver 2 joins the server as a spectator
    Swap Process
    • Driver 1 sets off
    • On pit lap, driver 2 selects their teammate from the driver list in the pit menu and presses their passenger select key then clicks the join race button to become a passenger in the car
      • NOTE - do not change view once in the car
    • Driver 1 requests a pitstop and in the on screen pit options scrolls down to driver select and selects the passengers name
    • Driver 1 pits and the swap to the 2nd driver is made automatically after the pitstop
    • Repeat the process to swap back to driver 1
    NOTES
    • Do not become the passenger until the pit lap. Doing so too early can lock both drivers out the car
    • A pitstop must be requested prior to entering the pits
    • Setups are shared but you can change Rollbars and Brake balance when driving and tyre pressure and wing via the pit menu.
    Thanks - Rodders.

    Hi
Some more notes to be aware of, it seems that if both drivers doesnt have the exact same setup file, with the same naming, there will be some oddities in the car handling.

Please make sure that both drivers on each team has the same setup file, with the same naming loaded into your track, and assigned as "favourite" setup when track is loaded.

You will also see some strange readings on the brake temps, cooling rapidly to low temps, and then rising too extreme temps quickly during braking, this does not affect the performance, its just some bugs in the telemetry readings.

    Have fun

Well we learned a lot in testing last night and ironed out a lot of issues, but alas, too many remained to risk doing the driver swaps on Saturday.

The race will still go ahead though and it will still be a team race with the total race times of each team member being added up to decide the winner. Anyone failing to finish the race will have their average lap time used to extrapolate their time with 2 sec a lap added on for every lap they failed to finish. Team mates drive the same car.

The race will now be 55 laps long (just over 1.5 hrs) starting at an in-game time of 6pm with x10 time progression so will finish at approx 9am with a full day-night-day transition.

Qualy will now start at 9pm and the race at 9:30pm.

All other race parameters are the same.

    Cheers.

PS - No one will be turned away if we have uneven numbers and they can't get a team mate so if you were down as a reserve driver you can just turn up and are guaranteed a race ;)
