TL;DR my hardware works in every other game and across operating systems, but not in AMS2. I don't know what I could possibly do to fix it at this point.

I'm at a loss on what to do to get everything mapped and this is mostly me venting after a week+ of trying to make this work. Firstly, I will admit that I have an odd setup where I have mounted an Asetek TK Wheel (Essentially a Green Forte Formula wheel) to a Logitech G923 with the Third party adapter, and Asetek Forte S pedals.

The G923 has always been a problem with this game to the point I have to make sure I run a few test sessions before jumping on multiplayer to make sure the game even detects the wheel. Which is why I've been slowly replacing it with Asetek gear.

The wheel is set to Legacy mode per instructions on RaceHub but, one of the three devices fails to be mapped every time I start the game. Sometimes I can map the wheel buttons on one page, but not all, sometimes AMS2 doesn't see my pedals, and the G923 is just flaky and will not work without restarting G Hub. I currently have the pedals and wheelbase configured but I either get multiple inputs detected or just no response from the game at all when mapping buttons to the wheel. I can sometime make progress if I get a single button to register, back out so it saves, quit the game and do it for the next button but that is an insane ask for most people.

I've deleted the AMS2 folder in Documents over and over again with no change, uninstalled, verified data, everything that I've found that's recommended when having button mapping issues. This seems to be an issue with the engine itself. I couldn't imagine adding button boxes to this setup with how fragile it feels.

On a whim, I connected my setup to the Steam Deck with AMS2 and did no get the multiple inputs errors and could map the wheel freely. Unfortunately, it didn't detect my pedals without making some udev permission changes and I would rather not do my racing on that hardware.

This hardware setup works on every other game I've tried like BeamNG, AC, ACC, Wreckfest, WRC 24, and Dirt 2.0. All of them let me configure every button on the TK wheel, use the Logitech wheelbase and Asetek pedals without problem.

It's a bummer because this is my racing groups favorite game to just pick a track, car class, and go. No server lobbies or worrying about randos joining and trolling. We've been doing more ACC lately just so we can all play together but I miss the chaos you can make with a mixed field in AMS2.

I hope 1.6 has some fixes for setting up controls but it's been a pain point for years now. Maybe black friday deals will have a good sale on Forte wheelbases and I can finally retire the G923.
