I find that when I set AI to x% to match my race pace, I always easily qualify in pole, 3 or 4 seconds ahead of number 2. This with default setup and a full tank of fuel. For that reason, I set my races with only a Practice session and set my race starting position, usually Random, in the Opponents settings. Is it just me or should the AI be faster during qualification to make things more realistic?
Which series? Not all are calibrated properly yet. When done, the R pace should be slightly slower than Q and slightly faster than P.
I only tried these recently: GTR Ultima Sprint Race M1 Procar GT3 Could it be I don't give them enough time? I limit qualification to 10 minutes. When I click "Skip to End" at the beginning of the session, their "simulated" times are much faster than after a 10 minute session.
Skip to the end is completely dysfunctional at the moment. Cannot use it if you want sensible and consistent with real time AI lap times. Check P, Q and R lap times of the AI after a reasonable amount of normal/real time in each session. Those should be OK. As soon as you advance to end of session, it is gone. All we can do until this is fixed is pick shorter sessions or whatever length sessions that we are willing to let play out in real time.
I just did a test: 27 AI - 911 GT3 Cup 4.0 Nurburgring GP AI = 107% Aggression = 50% Qualification = 20 minutes Race = 20 minutes AI Qualification Lap Times: 2:07.014 to 2:08.607 AI Race Lap Times: 2.04.840 to 2:08.308 They were much faster during the race. The top 3 cars were in the 2:04s starting on lap 2.
Was your potential lap around the 2:04.8 mark? I get this all the time. They race at up to my potential lap time from P & Q. I've had races with AI at 90% that ran faster than at 100%.
Yes, this seems to be the case in many series. I would post it in the bug report topic so it gets visibility.
I have also seen this weird bug where 1-2 of the AI are several seconds faster than the rest, but it was the exception rather than the rule. I thought it might have something to do with the livetrack randomly giving some AI better grip than others, but was never able to diagnose it.
