why was the point engine brake omitted in the setup area? In pCARS2 you could do a lot with it in the setup construction.
its not pCARS2 anymore. Its also not planned to be its successor. Its planned to be the successor of AMS1
Its also the successor of all my free time. There does seem to be an engine breaking effect though. Try downshifting quickly when coming up to a hairpin. and I agree, there are more setup options in “not AMS2”.
I know that it is not a successor of pCARS2, but they took over the whole architecture of the game so it would be easy to activate this setup function.
I don’t see why not, it simply is a matter of allowing less air into the manifold when off throttle. The ultimate question is, whether its needed because it bleeds cornering speed and simply slows the drive wheels, which brakes do as well. So if your brakes are balanced, it could only unbalance them.
Here is a link to a simple description of engine braking and how it is managed on real cars Engine Braking So it's both a technical solution to relieving stresses on the drivetrain and engine on downshifts, and also a way to tune the torque map to suit the circuit, or the driver, or the conditions. Essentially it's a far, far more sophisticated system in modern cars than the older but still relevant technique of blipping the throttle by heel-and-toe on downshifts. I think a sports car would need some sort of electronic brain to adjust engine braking if the car has a sequential gearbox.
Thanks, I know what engine braking is, I was wondering if with one setting you can adjust the engine braking, but it is an interplay of several factors.
Sorry, I mistook "I don't know" for 'I don't know'. The article does however explain how it is adjusted and from there you can transpose the information and see why you would need it on a modern sports car.
But what sports cars have this adjustment either in the cockpit or in the garage as a regularly tunable item?
