AMS1 working in VR

Now it works, I have to run it with steamvr turned off.

To center the VR use 5 on the keypad not the keyboard

Well I'm at my wits end now. It ran last night in VR right out of the gate just fine. I launched it tonight and ran the DPI cars mod at Bathurst just fine. Changed to Imola and Formula Classic Cars and Now no matter what I try it crashes back to Steam home whenever I try to load into the car after the track loads. Several different default cars have been tried and different tracks. Files have been verified repeatedly, the AMS VR install redone, graphics config reset from low to high resolutions, widescreen UI, DYNHud, windowed etc in every combination, rebooted computer and Steam and no go. Any ideas would be appreciated

 

It works great with WMR!!
However, when I am standing at the pits, I have the feeling that I cannot focus well and read the menus, as if I was squinting. Then when I start racing, it disappears and I don't have so much trouble focusing.

Thanks Noel, but yeah I have tried every combination of graphics setting. a complete reinstall is all I can think of to try at this point. sometimes it crashes when i select the race setup and sometimes after I load the track and try to start the session. Something must be corrupted but all files check out.

 

@Stan Johnson Make sure you launch the game directly from its folder, or via a desktop shortcut created from there.

 

Well im finding that if i remove the d3d.dll it will run in a flat screen cinema mode but with it in the AMS folder it will not load the game at all. just a straight crash. Any help?

 

Im running with the rift and i have steam vr running before starting the game.
If i launch from steam or the AMS folder the game doesn't load at all with the d3d.dll file in place.

 

For WMR headset I use 1680 X 1050 resolution.
Using Wide screen UI or the mouse position are a little off.
In Cliff house I got a big desktop opened where i just start AMS from Steam.

If I have SteamVR running first then sometimes the mouse will not work in VR. Can still operate on monitor. But no amount of WIN+Y or ALT+Tab will help.
Got a 2 seconds display freeze in every session making it hard to race.
Otherwise very happy with performance and visuals.

 

Does this also happen if you turn off the hud in the game, not in CrewChiefVR.ini settings ?

 

How about race 07, do you think it could work?

 

So I got it working again. I feel the fool With all the working on resolution, settings etc. it turns out the grey checkmark in the race setup screen, next to showing the car class, got unchecked and wasn't checked red and so after track loading there were no cars loading when trying to start the session and I hadn't noticed. It works great again. I am still impressed at how well it works and how much fun it is to just drive the cars in VR in AMS1

 

Had just two races in VR.
It's awesome to race all the great mods again.
Had two freezes during the race, though....circa 0.5-1 sec. Funny is that you can't see these freezes in the recorded gameplay. Also the recorded gameplay is more fluent than what I see in my Rift. At Road America (Patrick's mod) with the CART Extreme mod there was some stuttering.

Amazing work - well done to all involved!
Works perfectly with PSVR using IVRy.
Would be great to have the center VR action mappable to a wheel button to help with headset drift on PSVR.
Would love to see this technique applied to Race07, Dirt Rally and Wreckfest among others.

Anybody got it to work with a Rift S? I don't have one but I will buy one exclusively for AMS, I don't play anything else apart from GP4. AMS1 in VR... I can't believe the work you guys have done!
