@Sparten & @mr_belowski thank you for this great surprise, AMS1 has always been my favourite sim, so to try it in VR is amazing. I've done another 30 laps and still no freeze.
Christmas donation heading your way as a token of thanks. :)

Yesterday 1 hour doing a single player kart Championship and 0 freezes here, today I couldnt go to race or continue my Championship cause I couldnt click on "next" icon, just disable steamvr rendering, test, enable again and could do everything again. Thank you very, fixxing the UI and it will be perfect.

The same thing keeps happening to me, it works perfect, but when ESC is over, I have to force the game to shut down with the task manager

Wow. amazing work @mr_belowski Works perfectly for me, FPS stable at 90 FPS and it looks very pretty (to me on par with all other sims in VR!)

I don't know if anyone else has done any races longer than, say, 10 laps with the VR mod?

I have had the freeze again. At least it looks exactly the same. It has happened twice, & on both occasions I had done (including warm up lap) 12 laps, pitted on lap 11 or 12, then left the pits, then during the out lap from the pits, the dreaded 3 second freeze happened.

I don't know if it's some other cause, but I thought I'd report it in case it meant anything to @Sparten or anyone else has noticed this.

Every other session I've done since your last update (quite a number of sessions), has been around 6 to 10 laps and ran perfectly fine.

Very smooth and has together with gtr2 VR completely destroyed my joy in sim racing on my monitor! Something the more modern Sim games could not do.

Do have a small box with Select written in it floating around on the screen from time to time.
Got the same in Gtr2 VR.
It comes up for one or two seconds every couple of minutes.
Got a WMR headset not sure if it is a WMR thing?

    Hey Guys ,

I'm absolutely new to this VR thing and to be honest having an option to run AMS in VR is the sole reason I've purchased an Qculus Quest 2. Can someone give a step by step quide on how to launch AMS in VR ? I know i'm doing something wrong cause I can get it to load but only in pancake 2D mode. Which by the way shows up in my head set. It's been a little frustrating to say the least. Just looking for some much needed help.

    Thank You

First, follow the instructions in the readme file that came with the mod.
If you've definitely done all those steps, then it could be the order you are starting things in.

For me, it will not start in VR if SteamVR is already running. (Mine is WMR but things could be different for the Quest).
    So I:
    plug in headset.
    WMR portal automatically opens.
I do NOT put my headset on yet.
I open my Steam library, (do NOT start steam VR).
I start AMS, and then wait.
It will automatically start SteamVR and then AMS, hopefully in VR.
Then I put my headset on.

Try doing similar, but obviously without the WMR portal.

    Hey Keith ,

No luck for me. Thanks for trying to help a newbie like me. Maybe Someone with an Oculus could let me know what / how they get AMS to launch in VR .

    Thank You

What does "Which by the way shows up in my head set." mean? When you first go into the game in VR you will see a flat 2D "screen" floating in front of you. Its only when you get onto the track that you then become in the 3D world.

Also, make sure you set "enableSteamVRRendering = 1" in the CrewChiefVR.ini (think its off by default).

Try starting AMS directly from the folder. Here. SteamVr is launched by the game. I run it, normally as an administrator.

Hey Antonio , That did the trick ! I’m now flying in VR Thank you !!
Now it”s time to sharpen up the image. Does anyone have some tricks / tweaks to improve the detail ? I”m running an RTX 3070 so I’m thinking I should have a little headroom for improvement.

    Thank you

Crank up SteamVR Super Sampling I guess your will be able to run it above 150 as that what I use with my 2070. Your cpu will likely be the limiting factor on how much other visual goodies you can enable do to the way the image is rendered.

I finally got the time to give this a go and it's almost as great as GTR2, my only issue is that on a flat screen, I never noticed 100% lock to horizon still isn't actually properly locked to the horizon, just like in rF2. My eyes get tired pretty quickly in VR. But it's still great fun to rediscover the game, unfortunately, my Index made me completely forget how to drive on a regular screen properly, so I abandoned AMS1 1.5 years ago.
