When you find a track and date that results in an interesting day out, record it here! I'll start with Oulton Park and Porsche Cup: 11/01/2020 ( winter ) P - 8am Q-12pm R-3pm Morning session almost dark, cold with steady rain and wet track, sun coming up. Hard work. Qualifying -light cloud but wet track. Dare to try slicks for pole later in session. Race - Raining again with a bit of sun breaking through. Slippery. Hard work but great fun.
This from a earlier thread seems appropriate here , thanks @ozcanuck. 7AM Real weather , Real Time, Norschliefer 24hr , GTE BMW Light intermittent rain with mist & fog in the Valley sections and Sun rise Shining over the Mountains. In VR is something else. Lost for words............. P.S. It was the prac session of a customer championship with the race setting set at todays/current date, so I think prac session and qual is 2 day before race . and you can only set the current date for race session then it calculates prac and Qual dates. Hope that makes sense. Yes the Cherry blossom , must be spring time irl?
Yes, that is how it was explained by Renato I think. Not sure how accurate the real weather is atm though, tried a couple of races last night and it seemed a bit sus.
I've been holding off on Nords for AMS2 as I have it in RRE and AC, but the weather and night racing are making that a must have!
Jan 1st, 2020 (start of best year ever), 14:00 h, Nordschleife. Stick on the wet tyres, enjoy the winter wonderland of a wet track on a beautiful sunny winter day.
If you want a hot summer day at the Nurburgring - may I suggest 9th June 2015. Track temp = 39 degrees C. Air temp = 28 degrees C. I figured I'd try out this feature, so I looked up a history of track temperatures and found this page: (I'm focusing on June as it's a good German summer month). June Climate History for Nurburgring Circuit | Motorsport | Germany Then we have the temperature history graph from that page, which made me choose 9 June 2015. Nurburgring Circuit Track Temperature Chart ..add in some light clouds, set time to 1 pm & put the track rubber to whatever you fancy. Great feature. I wasn't sure if it would appeal, but I can see real value in it.
I _fully_ agree in general, but apparently in the town of Nurburg - it is. At least over the last few years. Just to clarify for Australians (I'm 1/4 btw) - the track's not in Darwin, or the outback, so temperatures will be a little more mild.
Hmmm.....need to setup the Adelaide Clipsal 500 from a few years ago, before cool suits, when they had a poor driver stop on track with heat exhaustion, 40+. See how the V8 copes with that! Edit: that would be March 25 and 26, 2006. Steve Owens passes out and hit a wall in Race 1 on Sat.. 35+, 60 in the car. Race usually starts late in the day...3pm. Practice and Qualy mid-morning. Update: Tried that and the ambient for Race 1 was a bit lower than expected ( 30C) but track temp listed as 55C, so its still pretty hot!
47 or 48 for me, back when I was younger and cope with it better. Still every summer now we still get a couple of days around 44-45 each year.
