I've just picked up the Reverb G2 and am haven't been able to launch the game at all without my PC bugging out, followed by getting a prompt to send a bug report.

I think my hardware set up is ok as I've been able to launch and play ACC in VR without any problems.

I'm not sure if I'm missing some steps with AMS2 here but this is what happens:

    Open Steam
    Launch AMS2 (Steam VR Mode)
    WMR Home opens automatically
USB disconnect/connect sound plays 3-5 times
G9 monitor goes blank/comes back on 3-5 times
G2 screens show some light but stay mostly blank
I then get a Steam VR critical error message

I've also on one occasion so far, had a BSOD that showed a 'Watchdog Timer' error.

I can still launch in pancake mode with no issue so any idea what I could be doing wrong here?

False alarm and I've managed to get it fixed.

It turned out that I needed to apply the workaround from Microsoft to make sure that Windows does not pre allocate virtual monitors. I'll leave a link to those instructions in case it helps somebody in the future:

I'm enjoying the G2 but if I'm being totally honest, coming from an Odyssey +, it hasn't given me the big jump in experience that I was expecting.

There's no perceptible screen door effect and it has fantastic clarity and sharpness in the centre of your view. However, if I move my eyes away from centre and toward any of the four corners, the clarity does drop away and things appear slightly blurry unless you then move your head to look straight at them.

To answer your questions, using the Odyssey + as my comparison point, I'd say the G2 has very slightly less FOV and also a smaller sweetspot.

I don't regret buying it but it's not the jump to the next gen that we were all hoping for.

    Thank you for answering.
Yeah I have to admit that I was one of the possible buyers who thought that the G2 could be the nextgen affordable VR compromise that could end next 2-3 years waiting for THE killer VR kit.:(

Now Im dreaming about being able to afford a possible gamer version of the business aimed Varjo VR-3.:D
    Is VR dead?

ByTheWay: My complete unqualified guess about the dissapointing low FOV on G2 is that the devs has chosen this because otherwise no affordable PC system could feed the G2 with enough pixels.o_O

I've had both the Odyssey+ and the Vive Cosmos. Now I have the Reverb G2, and this is by far the best VR headset I've had for simracing. The lack of screendoor and the great clarity and sharpness far outweighs the somewhat smaller FOV and sweetspot in my opinion.
But I think this is also very dependant on individual head shape, fortunately the G2 fits my head very well
