I read about it, but the big problem is that it's not just the processor, as in my case, that I already have the Am4 kit... The upgrade ends up being of little investment, as I'm going to put my processor to sell... to migrate to intel would have to buy motherboard, processor... unfeasible at the moment!
Under these conditions yes! Get off a 4 generation i5 to get the Ryzen 5 1600Af and it was a BIG step! I put my Thrustmaster TMX for sale too, with the purpose of buying a T300RS!
Late to post here but you are going to be happy with your upgrade. I have a 2060 super and upgraded from the 1600af to a 3600xt when the 5000 series dropped and the jump was significant. I don't do much other than game and im tight with my $$$ so couldnt justify the cost for more cores or the 5600. The 3600 is a great chip so your next upgrade would be a better GPU as the 3600 doesn't bottle neck a 3090! https://pc-builds.com/calculator/Ryzen_5_3600/GeForce_RTX_2070/0U912x8A/16/100 https://pc-builds.com/calculator/Ryzen_5_3600/GeForce_RTX_3090/0U9176/
That's great Rigo, curious to hear what kind of results you achieve. What kind of in game settings are you running at the moment? Anyway it's a nice QoL upgrade, so congrats. It really doesn't make sense to switch to intel if you're already on AM4, relentless switching of sockets has only compounded their problems. I enjoy putting together weird builds, the last was a 3600xt, which I've just sold and now I'm onto a z390/8600k from all used parts and a 3d printed case/bench. It's fun to see how older hardware stacks up against more recent offerings in terms of price/performance.
It's never too late to express your opinion, on the contrary, I'm grateful! Yes indeed, the investment for the 5600x was exactly double... it is out of the possibility of the investment! RTX 3090 for now is even more out, but who knows in the future, right! Thanks for the calculator, it was excellent!!!
So, watching comparative videos on Youtube, the leap will be considerable! I confess that I am also curious! I'm even thinking about getting a better cooler!!
The stock cooler will be sufficient but, they can be a bit noisy. There's not a lot of oc potential on the 3600 so you don't need to consider that, but if you'd like to counteract the noise side of things something like a cryorig h7 is a good shout in terms of cooling performance/sound/price. The dark rock pro 3 and 4 are my favourites as far as air coolers go. I personally wouldn't bother with an aio for a 3600. But if you were to purchase one the Arctic freezer liquid II is a great option. But total overkill for your needs. Also avoid 120mm aio's they're pointless.
So I read a lot about the inefficiency of the 120mm. Now, I'll have to wait a while for this new upgrade, for money reasons...the noise doesn't bother me that much, but I'd like to lower the temperature! I put my Thrustmaster TMX to sell...I want to buy a T300RS this year!!!
I run the inexpensive deepcool Gammaxx gte cooler and my build doesnt get over 65c, even on hot australian summers days. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0876HT5KC?tag=pcppau-22&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1
So, I even thought about getting this one... but imagine that here in Brazil, it costs R$200 and a 240mm Coolermaster watercooler R$329... I may be wrong, but for the values, I believe it is better to get the Water Cooler...
The processor has arrived! Really, thanks and a lot the upgrade...no more fps drops, now they are continuous!!! Thank you all!!!
