I have played AMS2 since the Day it got put on Steam, but have never really noticed a Slipstream effect.

The Aerodynamics seem to stay the same, regardless if i am behind a Car or not.
I seem to have the same amount of downforce directly behind a Car, and i also seem to never gain speed, even when being just a tiny bit behind someones Tail.

The Car itself also doesnt matter.
DRS on the other hand does have quite a huge Impact, so i would expect something between DRS and no Slipstream (while drafting).

I dont know if other games just pronounce this effect much more than in reality and ams2 just replicates it like in reallife, or if slipstreaming is just non existant in ams2.

even with my ****ty IRL car doing 130kph 10m behind another car on the autobahn, i do feel how the "airresistance" changes positively for me.

It is existent in AMS2. Even side-draft is in AMS2.

And the car does matter. You should get a significant gain on long straights with formula cars (and dirty air in corners), while GT cars probably will have less effect overall.

what i meant with "the car doesnt matter" is, that regardless which cars i try, i cant notice anything.

id imagine 2 GTE BMW's going down monza straight with +200kph would atleast create some speed advantage for the rear car.

also i have never noticed any type of loss of downforce in formula cars, especially the ones that create 'extremely' high downforce, i would expect that those lose much more

I think dirty air is simulated as well isnt it? I certainly get times when following another car that mine gets loose in a corner.

Edit: those are all vs AI. However I've clearly noticed slipstream in the online open wheel leagues races I've had in the past.

Regarding GTE, I rarely race those, but I'm almost sure I've noticed some level of slipstreaming when I did. Stock Car definitely had slipstream effect. But again, its been a long while since I've raced those.

i wouldnt really take the AI as benchmark for this, i have them sometimes pull away on the straights while i am right behind them, and sometimes they are just slower in general regardless if i am behind or not.
most notable is that non of the AIs seem to gain on each other due to the slipstream, which lets me believe that they are just slower than you at some point on a straight

funny fact i came up with the same question last night :D but the chevrolet might just be more powerful

GTE might be an outlier in terms of drag reduction by slipstream, perfectly possible.

Lotus 23 gets a big slipstream boost.
