Information for Customizing AI drivers in AMS2

    Custom AI for the F1 1997 season. Skins are here

    Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about the two orange McLaren with their testing livery.
    I just left them out of the customization they appear however in the grid ofc.

    Just copy the content of the txt-file into your custom_ai_drivers.xml file.

    Currently this feature is disabled in multiplayer, as we didnt have time yet to confirm if it would work in all cases like host migration etc

    Each vehicle (not livery) has its own performance, so you should account a factor for that if you want to make a slower vehicle driver perform better than a faster vehicle driver.

    In other words, if you give all drivers the same values, the drivers on the faster vehicles will be faster (because their vehicles are faster).

    I did a test with a Custom_ai_drivers all factor 1 for Skill
    and a rerun of the same race with no skills applied in the Custom_ai_drivers
    V10 Gen2 difficulty 100/50

    It makes me think I don't understand how the cars handle the skill values
    No "faster cars" are popping up in the row where skill=1

    After the explanation, I expected that in both columns the ratio in lap time differences would be the same
    Or is there something like a "x-1 multiply the standard differences" in the calculation?

    Yes you can, It isn't optimized jet especially the blue-flag values are a bit to high, If you want i can lower them so the cars will let other cars through a bit earlier
    You may add it as it is, I will post an update here when finished

    "1" corresponds with what was "100" in AMS 1, it is just the highest value in AMS 2. So, if all drivers have "<race_skill>1.00</race_skill>", all AI are set to maximum skill and perform almost the same as shown in your sheet (all pilots within 2/10 of a second).
    If you want that some guys lose like 4 seconds as Diniz in your example with the original skills of the game, you might set his value to maybe 0.1. This was the way it worked with the talent files in AMS 1 (with values between 1 and 100 there).

    All drivers with 1.0 skill perform rougly the same because the vehicle performances in this case are rougly the same.

    When you dont apply any skills, the game applies the original skills of the drivers that would be picked for that event, so they have this variation in skill.

    2 questions:

    1) Is this custom xml being deleted with every game update?

    2) From what i understand, at the end of the day, we are going to have one big custom xml file which will include lots (if not all) of car classes/names/driver characteristics etc (i m sure lot of ppl will contribute to this), is this correct? (+ the overiding skins that may be present for many classes)

    Where is the country flag displayed? Just in the menu screen or even during races?

    Don't know the answer to 1) yet but I suspect it will not delete.

    For 2) that can contain as many or as few customized drivers for the various in-game and add-on liveries as the user wishes. Each user's custom config file will be different, depending on what they want to customize.
    @eSTee3 has created an excellent tool (TEMPLATE - AMS2 AI Creation Tool) that allows editing of all the driver parameters and then generates the necessary custom .xml file. There's a number of liveries he's already added. I think it'd be a great idea for the community to work on completing the full list of liveries, including skin mods, 'cause it's quite a lot of work (well over 1,000 liveries). Probably needs someone to organize this effort...:whistle:

    I can't do new champ anymore.
    custom AI + new champ (v10 gen 1) = crash

    There could be a typo in the custom.xml liveries list causing this perhaps? Would need to check. @SaxOhare mentioned that special characters can cause issues and may need to be manually corrected in the custom_ai_xml

    I made few tests.
    Custom championship is ok, even with custom AI and even with V10 gen1
    Some champs are ok too (i didn't tested all)
    But V10 gen 1 champ crashes with and without custom AI

    In fact, all the champs where i use custom liveries crash with or without le custom AI file.
    If i use custom champ and select the car with custom liveries and custom ai, it seems to be ok (not tested all)
