    Dear all

Cars act weird* unless I follow the ideal driving line. -

    Settings/measures so far:
    1. Standard settings (installation default)
    2. recommended settings for my type of fanatec equipment.
    3. uninstall/reinstall sim

    Equipment in use:

    - Fanatec
    - - DD1 + Formula 2.5 wheel (high torque)
    - - Clubsport V3 pedals
    - - advanced paddle module

    -PC
    -- Win10 (16RAM, Ryzen 3800X, Nvidia RTX-2070 Super)

    ----------------------------------------------
    *
    - will not accept throttle properly (similar to throttle mapping issues of yore)
    - brakes bite although not pushed (random deceleration phenomenon)
--> basically undriveable if I deviate from the driving line

    For what it's worth:
When I installed AMS2 for the first time in May2021 those weird effects were absent. They started somewhen in late June or the beginning of July.
Since then I haven't had a smooth driving experience..

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Kind regards
    cha

Deleted the setups in the tuningsfolder?
    Calibrated the wheel ingame?

Are there any auto-braking assists in AMS2? (I can't remember!) If so, check that they're all off?

0.) Thanx for taking the time to make suggestions - much appreciated!

    1.) deleted *.vts in
    C:\Users\$MYUSER$\Documents\Automobilista 2\savegame\$SOMESERIAL$\automobilista 2\tuningsetups\

2.) copied/saved/loaded car-related setup for particular track from ghost in time trials, c/o this tuning video

    3.) Recalibrated wheel ingame

    4.) RESULT
No change in behavior --> still weird random deceleration off the ideal line..

    Any other ideas?

    0.) Thanks for your reply
    1.) I checked under
    options/gameplay/assignments/assistance
    --> steering assist
    --> braking assist
    # both are 'OFF'

    ...yes.
How old is the ghost setup you saved and then used ?
If you don't know, then it may be older than the v1.3 release date - which will be mucking things up.
Most of the ghosts that are on the TT leaderboards are older than v1.3.
Reiza are going to reset the boards for a reason. I suspect it's less about times and more about people using (old) setups that are going to mess things up.

...what I suggest you do is:
    1) screen grab the settings from your current setup. Either do it one at a time using PrtScn and then saving using an image editor. Or you can do it sequentially in one go, using lots of tools that are available. I use the screen capture features in Nvidia's Geforce Experience and that lets you do as many screen captures as you like in sequence.
    2) after you have exported the setup to image files, close the game, delete your tuning setups folder, then restart the game.
    3) recreate the setup you had manually, using the screenshots taken in step 1.
    4) re-test the car.
...if you were using an old setup, that should sort it, as I exported all of mine prior to the v1.3 update and I then just manually recreate them using screenshots (it means I never lose my setups when game updates require a reset and worst case, if the physics change radically - I still have my old setup information as a reference, which will make updating things quicker, as I'm not having to restart the setup from defaults again).

I would try without loading a setup from the time trial. I assume none of them are applicable to the cars as they are right now

    The setup files aren't applicable.
The car settings are perfectly valid - which is why I made my suggestion.
I'm using identical settings in cars after the v1.3 update, getting the exact result I expect.
But people can choose to do what they like.

So have I. (I did try a ghost setup only once, and that was yesterday..)
The unwanted behavior has been there since July, and it occurs with every car.

Oh well - it's obviously not that then.
When I read your second post mentioning the downloaded ghost setup, I thought it sounded like that was part of the initial problem, but you've clarified that you have only done that once.
Re-reading your initial comments it sounds like it _could_ be an issue with your wheel and pedals - like calibration, but you'll need to work through it yourself.
Sorry I can't help any further. Good luck with solving it.

    SOLUTION:
    Found the culprit. -
OPTIONS/GAMEPLAY/AUTHENTICITY/Braking Assist --> set to 'OFF'
This ends all odd behavior described above.

    BIG THANKS for your comments/contributions!
    cha

    p.s.:
I just realized that I did have braking assist to off before. (pretty sure I did!)
This time around though, I changed the setting specifically for a car and it worked out alright.
Hm, that leaves me kinda perplexed..
Anyway, a car should be driveable no matter what the setting for braking assist, right?

Solved it by setting the Braking Assist to OFF.
    Thanks for thinking along! :)

OK - well that makes sense and would definitely impact things. Glad you got it solved.
