Can somebody explain how saving from setups for different cars on different tracks work?
    It is really confusing me.

I’ve had issues with this too.

Until I learn about a different solution, I name mine using the following convention:
Example: Sprint Car; Donnington Park GP; Time Trial
    Setup Name: Spr DonGP TT

Note in the setup name the car and add in the description more information. The setup is saved per track and in the load screen you can select which track you want on the left side.
Unfortunately the setup name field is very short.

There is a way to share setups with friends? I had to send pictures of each page of the setup.

Load your set up in time trial, they can download it from there.

The problem is, every setup name has the be unique, regardless of the description/track.

you could share the setups from the tuningsetups folder.
Unfortunatelly its typical cryptic consoles filenames with encrypted content and all setups per car/track are stored with the same timestamp. Another leftover from pcars2.

I agree this is uncomfortable. I would like to be able to call E.g. all my Rocco setup "Rocco", and retrieve them depending the track automatically, like if it is saved in different directories (one for each tracks)

A week ago I could load the setup of a Ghost car in Time Trial mode, save it and then use the setup in a race. Today I tried it (V0.9.6.1), but I cannot load the setup of the ghost car (and thus save it). So I cannot copy setups anymore. Does anybody have this problem as well. If there is an other way to copy the setups, how does it work?

I just bought AMS2 last week. Today I found out I can't have sensible setup names, let alone any number of variations (because of the unique constraint and limited character length). It's making the game impossible to enjoy. Mercedes AMG GT3 all ready for Imola, but need a totally different setup for Nurburgring. This is such a stupid design it should be good cause for a refund. I am so ticked off right now. Back to AC *frown*.

    - just a bit of humor
Last week i bought a McLaren 720. Just to find out that the handbook was only printed in english and french. This makes it impssible to me to enjoy the car, because i speak only german.
This stupid failure should be a good cause for a refund. It's a shame. Back to BMW M4

    Just use a unique name.
    Here is how I save:
    Imola36c10l
    Imola36cQ
    Imola36c10lw

a combination of the track, track temp, laps of fuel and other particulars like wet setup or qually.

Also, why don’t people just for advice sometimes? why does everything have to come with a bottle of wine?

I thought the car setup is saved to the TRACK folder automatically, and you can retrieve that setup only if you are driving that car ?
I usually save my setups to the "." folder instead of the track so I can find all of them any time I want easily

Thats good if it works for you, but not for me. I am not going to wrestle with codifying this. With my example I had to aadjust ride height; ARB; spring rates and dampers, plus brake balance, as well as camber. I want to be able to say either have folder-specific names or be able to append "Nordschleife dry warm". That to me will indicate it's jacked up and softened, with reduced negative camber on the rear, and doesn't use wet tyres. You can't codify that. I tried the different folders and the common one. I always get "that name is used in another slot". It's just dumb.

It does save there automatically and perhaps you can _retrieve_ a setup only if it's for the same car, but that doesn't help with the name constraint on saving. Yeah, the root folder might be handy but personally I like the track-specific ones. I mean, you only really have variations for two reasons: the track and the weather.

Makes sense ... is this AMS2 you are using ? I am using AMS1. I dont notice the name constraints, or ".... Used in other SLot..." error. For me to enjoy there is too much trial and error in the setups... I need a 4 year degree to understand all of it, and I rebuilt my 911 years ago.

Not an engineer*, but the switch from my very nice Imola setup (that track is part of the base product) to Nurburg GP (i then bought the Premium Track Pack) was weird: I had no grip at all without softening everything up, in the extreme. That led me to hours of testing and "A:B" comparisons. I found something that worked but it kills my Imola performance, hence I need a separate setup name that means something. I just want to manage setups in a human way.
    * I'm a software engineer and nerd ;-) and I got into setups with AC about 20 months ago :)
