Hi all, I'm having an issue with my Simucube 2 pro where if I run over a large curb, or crash into another car, the FFB will go dead (the wheel actually disconnects and reboots itself). I can't get FFB back again until I close AMS2 and restart the game. I've checked all the cables etc, and I can't see a reason why it would be doing this.
It's sometimes possible to get the FFB back if you switch to a different Force Feedback Profile. In other words, switch between Default/Default+/Custom. Of course, that doesn't solve the problem of your Simucube disconnecting and rebooting itself, but it could be a remedy to avoid restarting AMS2 while sorting out the problem.
I secured all my USB-connections with a cable clamp, so there is absolutely no pull on my USB-connections I never lost FFB completely anymore, but sometimes when I have to make fast corrections my wheel-base protests by giving a beeping sound and a strange feel for a moment It is like AMS2 saturates my wheelbase with FFB information. I also don't trust the latest firmware from SimuCube, When I hit something in whatever game my wheel-base reacts with very "loud" FFB which can easily hurt me, Far louder than the FFB I have while driving normal. Using default FFB and SimuCube Force reconstuction filter at 1(minimum) with 2200 Hz bandwidth brings the beeping somewhat under control, I also tend to avoid tracks with chicanes. (I hope SimuCube Releases a new firmware soon. with a local management system, not forcing me in the online paddock)
The firmware was updated a few days ago, 2021.12 is the current version. You can set it to go to offline profiles by default and never have to load the paddock at all. That is, if you converted your classic profiles in an older version. Elso you might need to use them in paddock mode once so they appear as offline profiles, or you just recreate them in offline mode. You can even set an offline profile as default now, very handy. @Stevejack what are your wheel settings? If your SC2 turns itself off it may be a safety feature. Can you reactivate it by pressing the e-stop and then releasing it? In any case you could try to lower FFB strength in TrueDrive and instead raise it in game. That also helps with the FFB spikes the default+ profile produces.
Thanks for all the replies guys - very sheepishly I have to admit that one of the two power supplies was turned off at the wall. I didn't check this because I actually didn't realise that the wheel would run with only one power supply, but obviously on large FFB spikes with only half of the juice flowing to the wheel it must just shut down as a safety feature. After checking and re-checking the connections, the actual switch on the wall plug is the one thing that I didn't check! Apologies, but thank you for all the great suggestions.
You know, I work in IT supoort, and I can tell you that the best problems for everybody are those that are easily fixed
