Hey guys, Bare with me....since the last update I've been digging into the title and playing quit a bit offline trying to figure the in and outs before heading online. There is one thing I'm struggling with and have seen several threads on other forms with similar issues named....driving on ice, catch the rear, spinning etc. I've tried the default, default + and rfuktor 5.0.3, all of them feel really good and feel different in there own ways BUT they all have the same issue with lack of rear detail when the rear starts to kick out under braking. Pre build I was running 95% brake pressure and with the new build all cars were insta spinning under braking, which a member advised to lower brake pressure to 60-80% which helped alot but I'm still occasionally spinning and have little to no detail of lateral grip, friction or even feel like I have contact with the road....like sliding on ice. Of the 3 files Karsten's rfuktor files gives a faint scrub effect but zero detail of lateral forces or friction until it's too late. Default + has an excellent feel under braking as you can feel the weight transfer forward but it's so overpowering you can't feel anything until your backwards. Which slider would adjust that body weight transfer? In PC2 I vaguely remember SOP could be added in the custom files to help with rear feel? So, am I looking at further brake adjustments, tuning or tweaking the custom file....which I have no idea about. Ultimately, if I could get a little more load feel under braking and some rear feel with Karsten's file it would be perfect for me. I've never had the feeling of driving on ice in AMS2 or in PCars2 or PCars1. I've always only driven in VR so maybe that's the reason as well. It's much easier to see the movement in the car then just relying on FFB and audio. Although I have no issues with the custom file giving me more then enough info for rear end grip. But I also run shakers now which also help a lot when the rear gets loose. At least for me when I spin on braking it's usually at the apex because of trail braking and I'm asking way too much of the rear tires because I've already unloaded them too much. I then have to lower the pressure and adjust the brake bias one click at a time further forward. Each time I move it a click forward I run a lap or two and see what happens at that same corner. Also another one that does it is down shifting to early or not bliping the throttle on downshift. Some cars don't have have that with the flappy paddles so a throttle blip is needed. Or turning on auto clutch works as well but I don't like to do that when I play as I try to match the inputs provided by the car as best as I can.
If I go from playing AMS2 to rFactor2, I really struggle to catch the rear stepping out in time, I just don't get that feedback the same way. It takes a while for me to get in tune with the way cues alert me to what's really happening. No such issues at all in AMS2, though. It's not as simple as saying it's something in the ffb alone; audio plays a big part, latency too (Whether in general, audio, visual, ffb, etc.). Even the head-motion effects can have some influence.
Thanks for the replies guys. Ya, I'm puzzled atm? I have zero issues in other games. ATM I'm gonna put it on the brakes and tuning as they have both been acting weird since the last update. I just did 10 laps in the 125cc kart at Interlagos...at the end of the session, my rear left brake was showing a red hot temp of 450c+ while the other 3 were ice cold at 29c? I've also noticed in the Porsche cup car I have to drag the brakes down the pitlane at Daytona just to have enough heat in them to make the pitlane exit and t1 without plowing into the doing less than 60kmh Hopefully, the next build will have the base tunes updated. Edit: Using the rfuktor file I'm starting to get a better rear feel...I lowered the power steering combined with more forward brake bias seems to be working
The kart only has a single brake on that rear left, the other corners has no brake but the graphic still shoes it having them just cold. I noticed that kart brake overheats in a lap and has massive fade before it should. Reported yesterday and also months ago.
