I can confirm this, i was thinking in also posting about this issue, it happens no matter the aggression, all/most cars that starts on the outside they instantly ran wide into the grass. In some of my tries, it even leads to big accidents when the AI tries to go back to the circuit.

Edit: i may have exaggerated in all/most of them, my memory served me wrong, but, it it actually vary a lot. The video show the issue more clear

    • Car / Track used: F1 Classic Gen 3, Group A, F1 Retro Gen 3 and Group C, all in Silverstone 1991
    • AI Strength setting: 90
    • Corner (if issue is corner specific): Standing start on start/finish straight (i also show rolling start for comparison)
    • AI Aggression setting: 50 ( the last clip is AI at 10 aggression just for comparison)
    • Session Distance: 10 laps
    • Weather when the issue was observed: Clean
    • Player Tyre: Slicks in most of them (the default tire for hot weather)
    • AI Tyre: same tire as the player
    • Type of session when the issue was observed: Race

    Track: Nurburgring 24h
    AI Strength: 100
    AI Aggression: 70%

AI will drive side by side among themselves across large section of the track, including corners, without committing to either complete the overtaking, or giving up and slotting behind the car ahead. In real life, I’d expect the cars to eventually move back to the racing line instead of driving in formation.

The AI have way too much grip. On every hard braking zone the player will rear-end them when braking close behind as their brakes are so much more effective. In T11 they are able to carry way more speed, if the player tries to follow an AI they will slam into the concrete wall without a chance.

Don't agree with this. The AI in the GT3s (and most other tin-tops) brake too soon and are too slow through most corners....although the AI are too slow in the GT3s at just about every track.

At T11, you can carry the same speed as the AI (it's one of the few corners they take at decent speed). Just lift off slightly and turn early enough.

AI in most tin-tops is way too slow through The Carousel.

genuine question: my post was marked as informative. what does that mean? like, do people agree or is lacking info or something? My question comes from the fact that informative are not in the ratings motioned in the first post

It means it is useful and good info. imo esp with video. ie easy to replicate,(with same or other car class's to check same behavior) detailed, check. confirm, useful, any or all of these. imo. so good stuff.

Similar issue as Azaris mentioned. I noticed the braking issue mainly at T5.

    Track: Daytona road course
    AI Strength: 100%
    AI Aggression: 100%

P1s are faster overall as expected. However, whereas around Spa the P2s are faster overall than the GT3, around Daytona's road course the GT3 are faster which doesn't match real-life performance differences.

In the most recent IMSA event, P1 were lapping around 1m35, P2 around 1m37, P3 around 1m44, and GT3 around 1m46 (see e.g. 2022 IMSA Results, Standings, Rankings and Statistics).

Keep in mind that the P1-P3 cars in AMS2 are not the ones raced in IMSA currently. We do have the DPI in AMS2 which was in the Rolex 24. And of course GT3s. But the LMP2/3 cars in IMSA are very different from the P2/P3 in AMS2 (which represent cars from the Brazilian Imperio Endurance series).

Now, it would be cool if AMS2 added more cars that are in IMSA as it has a lot of great racing series currently!

    Verson: 1.3.3.1
Car: F1 V10 Gen 1 (me in the McLaren)
    Track: Road America
AI Settings: 105/50 (with custom AI file created by me)
    Scenario: Race

Okay, I think I've figured out the main AI issue at this track--they simply carry too much speed through the carousel. Using Steelcast's recommendations, I maximized left front grip through this corner via setup and was still getting crushed by the AI, which then gives them extra speed through the kink and down to Canada corner.

Result is that the player has to dial down AI strength to compensate for this, which means that the AI are braking early/going too slow on most of the other corners.

Fix the carousel and most of the AI problems are fixed here, I think.

P4 Both Cars - Oulton Park classic - Skill 120 and Aggression 100, dry clear conditions, date January 2021, I’m lapping over three seconds a lap faster than the AI. I’m not an alien sim racer.
I absolutely love these cars, but can only hot lap in them, because the AI don’t race and are at best parading around each lap of the race.
Last to first before the end of lap four every race and starting from 26th on the grid.
Please can you look into, because they are such great cars to drive and perfect cars to learn to sim race in.
    Thank you

I saw his thread, it's P4 he drove, the issue here is Oulton Park though. Oulton and Brands have pretty slow AI right now unfortunately.

Apologies they were in my title on my previous thread. I’m useless in the mornings haha. As the above driver has stated for me in my absent mindedness, P4 both cars.

The AI performance on the wet track seems unbalanced compared to dry conditions. It seems as though the track conditions make little difference to their cornering speed/traction. It's most noticeable at Ascari and the exit of Parabolica where they appear to have the same grip as in the dry.

General AI spread problem in race. I have noticed this on multiple track/car combos which lead to AI grouping. This means that you can rarely find single AI car and have one on one battle. Also this leads to a problem that races easily end with first to last scenario or being unable to match AI pace.

Ive had some success in removing this characteristic by customising the ai. Link follows-
Information for Customizing AI drivers in AMS2 V1.3 | Reiza Studios Forum
If you give the Ginetta G55 Supercup a go (the only series Ive modified so far), the following file has the drivers from last year with a couple of amateur drivers included. Difficulty should be set to 100 with aggression at 50 (very important). Try it at Interlagos on a nice day. Qualifying is set to be slightly harder than the race by .5 of a second or so, and you should have a good battle with the ai as their pace will slacken towards the end, but not by much.
    Have fun (hopefully).

Report : AI drivers in formulas have too much grip out of turns
    Version: 1.3.3.1
    Track: ALL
Cars: Openwheelers (V10 Gen1&2, Fusa gen 2&3, FReiza,...)
    Weather: Rain
    AI: 107/85

Under rain, with mentionned openwheels, Custom AI are slow as requested in customAI file during curves, but they immediately get a crazy dry grip out of curve and fly away. They really have to much grip out of curves, it is not realistic at all.
