I wonder if it could be something to do with your GPU. Those 30 series cards seem to have been very problematic, I have a 20 series and never have a problem with it.

No new programs installed and like I said I had a good performance last week. So the card is okay.

And did Task Manager show anything else using your CPU? fpsVR clearly shows your CPU is taking over 20ms per frame (20ms would be 50fps). Can't see your CPU temperature on that fpsVr screenshot. If it's running too hot it'll thermal throttle, but more likely you've just got something else running that AMS2 is having to compete with.

Should have been more clear, I was thinking more in terms of drivers and not an actual hardware problem.

I did another check this morning. CPU usage is very low when I start up the game. Menu of AMS2 still low. The moment I load towards a game mode and it's in this game mode (overlooking the circuit) it instantly increases my CPU to the max! In windows I see a low CPU usage also when I am in the game (on the circuit). Is this now a Windows issue or a AMS2 issue? For sure it looks like it has nothing to do with my graphics card. I updated all drivers and even the latest WIN10 update this morning.

CPU temp is 96 ingame and hoovers between 86 and 98

That seems really hot, so your CPU is probably thermal throttling. If you install HWInfo you can know for sure. Did you build the pc yourself? Is your CPU cooler working?

    Hey!
For performance and graphics, check out this great Reverb G2 guide by Rob Davies! It really helped with performance on my system.

Sorry I was off for the weekend. Yes computer installed myself, watercooled Corsair Hxx system on it. I dowloaded HWinfo. What can I check here. Do I need to start the game and look at the values in this proggie? Or should I log something?

Yes - use the Sensors in HWiNFO to see how your CPU is performing. In particular, it can tell you if thermal throttling is kicking in. You really shouldn't be hitting those temps with an AIO on there, so I suspect something's not right there. If there is a problem, it won't be just in AMS2 - if you run a benchmark like Cinebench, you would see it too.

Thank you for your help. Solved it. I noticed in the end there was a small bend in my tube. This probably came due to 12month of heat stress. It was not there when I installed it. Unfortunately the Bitfenix Prodigy does not give me an option to curve the tubes less. Therefor I will be replacing it for a aircooler. Hopefully this solved my issue!

Just posting to say thx to the devs who implemented VR in AMS2, i'm new to the sim and play in VR with a Varjo Aero, performance is good considering the resolution and even though i'm not reaching 90fps it's still smooth, there's some magic going on somewhere. The graphics are the best i've seen in a sim, and some of the best i've seen in VR.
    Thanks!

Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing a jerkiness for only the latest content (the Formula USA and Road America). GPU is only being utilised around 53%.

If I take Mclaren GT3 into Road America, I get the jerkiness, if I take formula USA to Donnington or Brans Hatch - jerkiness.

I've not even loaded up Cleveland to try but will test the effected content hopefully this weekend.

That totally happened to me too but a reboot fixed it.

Unfortunately that hasn't fixed it for me.

So after reinstalling AMS2 and some testing I have come to the following conclusion:
    • Content that was released as the latter parts of the Racing USA Pt2 DLC (Road America, F-USA Gen1 & to an extent F-USA Gen 3) does not play nice with my system in VR
I get micro stutters all the way through without the GPU being pushed to it's limits.

I really hope this won't be the case for all DLC going forward.

I was getting quite some jerkiness on some things with Airlink on the Quest 2 despite both GPU and CPU having headroom, but switching to the USB link has completely cleared that up, so I'm assuming it was someone interfering with the wi-fi causing that...

When I still used Quest 2 I noticed big improvement in cabled set-up. WiFi link is no good for racing sims. Cable gives much better connection between rig and HMD

What y´all do against the flickering of shadows? I have to play on low settings (still get only 60FPS) until I get a new graphics card. I tried higher settings with low FPS just to see if the flickering gets better but not really. For example clear weather 10 AM Monza. The parts with many trees are terrible in VR. I am just not sure if its because of my low FPS (45 FPS) wich maybe causes some kind of ghosting?

I tried MSAA on max and AF on 16x, shadows on medium. Using 50% in Steam VR. My headset is a Reverb G2. Thinking about to buy a 3080 Ti but am not sure how much better the performance will be? I am currently on a GTX 1070. I built a complete new system today with an 12700k. CPU is chilling at 15-20% while the GPU is sweating at 99% :D

Flicking shadows can't be fixed in VR for this game (at least no response from Devs so far). The only way to help it a bit is increase resolution and shadows to high or ultra. But fps takes a hit...so you don't want to set shadows to high or ultra. I have RTX3090 and I don't even set shadows to medium, high or ultra. Set resolution high will help a lot but again, fps will take a hit. I rather set shadows to "LOW" (since it sucks anyway) to gain resource to increase resolutions. Set MSAA and AF to MAX.
