If it can't be discussed here where can it be discussed? We are in a like minded group but potentially have completely different world, economic and social views, this is the perfect place to have a civil conversation.

We just broke $2 a litre for unleaded here and $1.90 for my diesel. That's quite steep for us here.

If you are willing and able to spend for the over 1 Million refugees for home, meals and medical care you can easy spend some money via Amazon Pay to the Red Cross organisation.

In Austria we went from 1.419 (which is already expensive for us) to 1.621 in just two days.

You want quick and fast new about Ukraine, etc. Keep in mind there's always propaganda, but you can go to 9gag, then go to the lastest news-section and press fresh. So you get stuff that civillians post on 9gag without tv-bosses or anything between to decide to you whats important.
Still keep in mind take everything with a grain of salt, tho.

OK, I'll bite. War is terrible, really terrible, always has been and always will be, and the average people are the ones who pay for the price for the "leaders" bs. And the Ukranian people right now deserve all the (non talking about military) help they can get and thankfully much of the world does that.

But why wasn't the whole world helping out in the past other nations when their countries were being invaded some years ago? Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Algeria, Libya, Serbia, just to name only few of the dozens that quickly come to mind? Isn't it hypocritical that only now the whole (well, big part of it) western world is united against a war monger? Why not also before?

For reference: Last year in march it was less then 1,50€ for 1 liter 95 octane super E10 (10% Ethanol) that's our lowest gasoline grade.

    1 Euro curently equals 1,11 US $

In other words, the highest grade fuel with 100 octane cost 11$ per Gallon.
That in daily practice means we pay 14€ for 100km in average in a compact class car (VW Golf TSI)

Our main supplier of natural Gas and oil is the Russian Federation...yet

So the only problem with war and invading countries is the nuclear threat? If there's no nuclear threat, it's ok to kill thousands? What about Serbia which was bombed from the NATO even with bombs containing uranium (not for the nuclear power, but for more damage)?

And don't get me started about how the western civilization has destroyed and is still destroying dozens and dozens of countries economically and organizing coups all over the world. It's not war with normal weapons, but probably has tenfold victims than a "real" war. But for some reason almost nobody cares.
