Are last lap times assisted / fake?

Hi all, something I have noticed a lot over time is that in most races when I do my last lap it is between 0.7 and 1.8 seconds faster than my previous best of the race. I am not doing anything miraculous on these last laps as compared to my prior laps in the race.

So I was wondering, is sthe sim doing something to assist my lap times on the last lap? As an example did a 16 lap race tonight on current Monza with the FUSA gen 1.

Tyre and fuel use were at x4 so I was having to pit for fuel every 4 laps and changed tyres as well each time. I had just enough fuel, to do each 4 lap stint. On the very last lap of the race I did a lap around 1.6 seconds faster than my previous fastest in the session.

    Thoughts?

    No.

You just improved and had a light car, it happens. The human brain is a miracle. It's that simple.

Also with 4x fuel consumption you have 4x less fuel on your last lap, which gives lots of confidence with a lighter car per lap...

Because I had to pit 3 times I had 4 laps through the race where I had minimal fuel on board and similar tyre wear. I can understand there would be some track evolution but I can't see how I could be that much faster. Is there anywhere where AMS2 stores race lp times?

I think your best bet would be to data log your laps and then review them. I don't do this so I wouldn't know what application to use but you should be able to overlay each lap and you can then review your brake points, speed through the corners and when you get on / off the throttle / brake.

My guess is because you're on the last lap and you've already done 15 before the last so you're a little more comfortable with the car / track combo with less fuel so you can push it a bit more.

I can recommend the "second monitor app" for that purpose. You can also analyze your speed traces with it.

There is no "lap time assist" for the last lap in the simulator, period.
There isn't even a viable reason to write and implement such a thing, why should anyone spend effort and time that is more valuable used elsewhere on such a thing?

Will look into that app, thanks. Not saying that it is viable or valuable. Just I don't have this happen to this extent in any other sims I have played. Just asking the question.

I normally crash in the last or penultimate lap, regardless of race length. So might be the same thing just the other way round?

If you are already using SimHub, it automatically records all of you session times. Go to the statistics tab.
