Hi all, just joined this forum. I'll be 62 this year, retired, and have nothing better to do but race (play) on my simrig. Jumped over to PC from PS4 Pro and the first sim I downloaded was Automobilista 2 as this is not available on console. Now, regarding the latest update on Steam, I am not sure of how to get this. It does say that to access this you have to go to Automobilista 2/Properties/Beta Tab, but I don't have 'RealeaseCandidate' I only have 'PreviousBuild' option. I probably sound dumb and maybe I am LOL but should I choose PreviousBuild to access the latest update, and shouldn't the update be updated automatically? Thanks for anyone that can shed some light.
Hey! ReleaseCandidate is only avaiable if there is a new big update inbound but not yet released. (Release Candidates only appear, when "closed" Beta testing is over). We released the last biggie a few days ago and right now there is only the possibility to revert to the previous version. (A safety option so users can choose to use the old version, if required for anything outside plain normal use) New Release Candidates will be announced in the forums. The newest version for all AMS2 users is up as normal main Branch currently, though.
Thank you for your reply, when you say Previous Version, does this refer to the update that contains the V1.3.5.1 ? Sorry but it is all confusing to me.
"Previous" refers to the main live game version before 1.3.5.1, which should be 1.3.4.0 if i'm not wrong right now.
Yes, that is what is logical, so let me put it another way, last week I installed Automobilista 2 on Steam, now it is announced that there is an update, what do I do to get it? That is what I need to know, does it update automatically?
it does automatically update, unless u have changed that somehow but u would constantly see there is an update waiting for you (and i think u cant start the game without updating if one is available) tldr: if u looking at steam and u dont see an update u have the latest version already heres an example what u would see if u had it configured to not automatically update and it says "update on launch". btw the ams2 update was last weekend already not today
If you are in main live branch (so no Previous and no RC build) you will always get the updates, when they officially release as "done". No user operation is required but you first get the most current update, when it's officially released as current "live version". If you read "Release Candidate version x.x.x.x live" in the forums etc. you have the possibility to manually opt into the "release candidate branch" in your steam properties. You can imagine this as manual "early access light". When the official "done" update arrives, it will automatically be merged with your RC build and transform into the main live branch. If you are on "Previous", it will always update to the previous version of what is the actual current version of the live main branch.
OK thanks to all for your replies. So it seems I already have the updated version. The only info I can find in properties is that the installed content has been updated April 9th.
