Did some laps with your setup, and you're definitely cheating! Maybe not as in manipulating the game, but rather manipulating your brain. You must be on drugs, lotsa drugs!
I think Reiza should create, make and sell a USB Home Drug Test KIT and make it's use mandatory for all official TT-times. This is getting way to fast, too fast!

Thanks very much for that information, and for giving it away so freely, huge respect for that. I'd never even have tried that, as it seems to counter-intuitive for the car to get quicker that way. I'll try and see whether it improves the lap time in any way. Not sure about that 22 though, that seems very quick - you're definitely an impressive driver.

Well, at modern Silverstone, I did a lap just yesterday and it did not get saved, so there's clearly some gremlins here.

One other thing I've noticed during these TT attempts is that the ERS Quali Mode runs out before the end of the lap (like it did at Spa, which I think it still does in TT mode actually). Is this something that the team could look into as well? Thanks.

 

It's something I've noticed only very recently today (yes, at Silverstone, sorry not to mention).

I've only just come out of the sim having done a few more attempts in TT mode, and I've noticed that at the very end of the lap the ERS stops deploying and starts building. This I notice only out of the last corner though, tbh, so it's only a very short amount of time that deployment isn't engaged

You're right about the potential, btw. I've managed to get it down to 1:23.036 now and still there is some time on the table I believe.

 

I wouldn't care too much about what some might say about your times, man, especially if they're a tiny minority. It's not worth even wasting one single thought on it in my view.

You know your times are legit and I think the other people on the LB should know what's possible and what is not. Everything else is completely irrelevant.

 

I drive the whole lap on "attack" (it's also more controllable out of corners that way) and only the last sector on "qualy" because of that. Not sure whether it's really faster, but I gain all of my time in that last sector (the other two sectors had a few hiccups though).

I also tried out the setup you provided, and boy is that great setup work. Thank you again for providing it so freely, that's admirable. It wasn't quite suited to the pad, because it was too twitchy for me, so I did a few adjustments:
- Changed Front Wing from 28 to 26
- Changed Anti Roll Bar from 15-11 to 16-9
- Changed Brake Pressure from 88 to 92
(- As you have to for pad in order for it to be drivable, changed steering lock from 26 to 17)

That did wonders for stability and after that, it was a really comfortable and consistent ride. I could consistently get into the low 23's, and...

22's are possible
Took me a while to get there though, with a particularly annoying 23,000 as a step before doing the current best time.

I recorded it, but only the replay, as my PC tends to get lags when I record during driving. The inputs in the replay are a little weird and not as they actually are in the game (I drive a little smoother and also actually have more steering lock than is shown there). Tbh the replay at times looks like I'm the cheater xD

ERS mode was, as previously said, on Attack throughout the whole lap and on Qualy from Hangar Straight to the end (the replay doesn't show that properly). Oh, and shifting late is, to me, actually a better exploit than shifting early, because higher gears keep the car stable.

The first two sectors aren't particularly pretty in terms of lines, but I couldn't have done the last one better.

 

I'm in awe that you can drive so smoothly with a pad! You have much better traction than me out of slower corners I believe... This is where I leave the time on the table.

Grats on getting into the 22's as well. I'm well impressed that you've managed that so comfortably. Glad that some of the setup at least worked for you too

I agree with you about late shifting. It's something I need to work on because especially into the first tight corners of the track I experience a lot of rotation in the first hairpin especially. Maybe staying in 4th through there like you might help that.

 

Almost a decade of practice will do that to you; it's honestly not more impressive than being quick with a wheel, just a slightly different skillset.

Putting ERS on "Attack" instead of "Qualy" really helps with that; I was struggling much more on "Qualy". Beginning to suspect that this mode is only worthwhile on longer straights.
Also, thumbs tend to have more feeling than feet, so that helps as well.

Thank you, it wasn't comfortable though, I was at it for about 3/4 of an hour and I'm pretty sure I'd need at least the same time to improve the lap. There are a few little mistakes, but I don't think I'll ever be able to improve on that last sector, especially the chicane. I was actually a tenth slower than you in S1 and 2 respectively.

Mind you, T3 is still a corner where the car really likes to snap, but it definitely helped, good luck with trying that!

 

Just to follow up on all this, our old friend BrunoB, between strange conspiracy theories and general weirdness, has highlighted in a RaceDepartment thread (warning: you may lose several IQ points if you read it all ) that his time trial ghosts continue to upload on track car combinations where they don't for other users (including myself). So an additional data point for any bug hunting related to this, perhaps.
