I started my game from the Steam desktop client selecting "SteamVR mode". Also i made sure that my WMR portal was running first but it still gives my the "unknown string property - dev; 0, prop: 1006" and my headset goes black.

Im not sure what you meant about the "openovr_log" file. Its located in the Automobilista 2 folder and its only 4kb. Not able to open it.
The opencomposite.ini file is located in my x64 folder and i made sure it has saved with the ini at the end. Also i copy pasted your textcommand "admitUnknownProps=enabled".
I really appreciate your effort of trying to help me but it feels like im stuck.

"No config file found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Automobilista 2\opencomposite.ini"
Looks like you got the .ini file wrong? I struggled a bit with this myself, but got it working by doing this:
    Open notepad.
    Copy/paste this: admitUnknownProps=enabled
    Click File-->Save As..
    File name: opencomposite.ini
    Save as type: All files

Try placing the ini file straight in the AMS2 folder instead of x64

I picked up a Reverb G2. Got it looking really good while locked at 90 fps for sunny/dry conditions. Still sorting out settings for night/rain.

I use motion smoothing auto when getting rain/night otherwise resolution has to be set very low.

    Just as smal update.
I got the opencomposite and the openXRtoolkit working.
I messed around with alot of settings like Fixed FR, NIS motion reprojection.
Was not happy with the results even after 2 hours tinkering (After like 45 restarts lol).
Suddenly i managed to get 90fps without Motion reprojection almost a whole race with a resolution of 3160*3100 with no upscaling just FFR at quality - wide.
Looks amazingly crisp and fluid (Im used to motion reprojection and a whobbly picture)
OFC when the rain starts i get drops to 82 fps.
Im really happy with my somehow magic settings and i hope to get the same performance the next time i start up the sim :)
    HP Reverb G2 and 3080ti

Depends on your headset. For WMR devices OpenComposite alone is a big bonus providing higher more stable frame rates and slightly improved image quality over SteamVR. OpenXR Toolkit then adds many other benefits on top. If you're using a SteamVR native or Oculus headset then you're probably better off using the other tools.

I didn't notice any improvements with AMS2 on my hp g2. But I'm willing to dive deeper into it once the menu screens are working.

It is an incredible tool for msfs. Really hope AMD will add ffr support for DirectX11 but I doubt it.

Menu/Hud all work now when NIS/FSR is enabled - you just need to get the latest version of OpenXR toolkit. (1.1.3)

Tried now with the new toolkit. Unfortunately the performance is worse than the openfsr dll (1.1 version). The framerate dips are much more severe with the openXR tool. I think I will stick with steamVR + Openfsr

That seems odd. Did you make sure you disabled/removed openfsr? i.e. you weren't running both

Also, to compare like for like, your OpenXR resolution should be the same as what you have set in SteamVR.

You can only have 1 DLL file, I don't think it is possible to have both running?

Resolution had to be set lower in openxr, though it did look similar despite this.

If you're using the global OpenComposite, then you would go through both if you still had the fsr version of openvr_api.dll in your AMS2 folder.
