AMS2 - User Livery Overrides

General question about quality of life improvements when working with liveries: will there someday be fixed positions available in the showroom, let's say "Left view", "Right view", "Top view" etc? Because right now, when taking pictures for Preview images it's often not 100% aligned like the one screenshot I took before that. Would be a huge timesaver and the preview pictures would look more consistent.

 

ooh I like this idea, you could even have an "export preview image" button that automatically uses a side camera and removes the background so the image saves as a PNG and there's no trace of the garage left!

Why not then automatically save it with right position, size and alpha channel included as .dds?

 

Just speaking for myself here: several fixed positions would be sufficient.
As I said: a straight camera view (= not tilted, just parallel to the ground), changeable in 45° steps around the car. Enough to make consistent screenshots.

Of course if Reiza is able to remove the background, add the alpha channel and save that screenshot as DDS I'm the last one to complain. But that's probably involved with some more tinkering...

 

I'll admit it's been a while since I've made any liveries for AMS2, so I did forget that the game reads DDS files - if they can be generated, of course that would be much more direct

Unfortunately, the fine liveries which people painted for F_USA do not fit anymore to the bodyworks for oval races in many cases. The paintings on backwings look weird now.

 

Oh really… I’m loading game sim now. Those CART 98 liveries are/were sweet

What about the suit and helmet templates? Are they available for all suits/helmets?

We need an option to add liveries, because LOTS of them were deleted with this update...

 

Will it be possible to put the oval skins in an extra overide folder?
for example (CART_Lola_B2K00_Toyota_SS with cart_lola_b2k00_toyota_ss.xml) or (CART_Lola_B2K00_Toyota_SO with cart_lola_b2k00_toyota_so.xml)
Because the templates overlap for example at the rear wings it will be difficult to customize them correctly.

 

Vehicle spots were deleted from P1 and GT3 as far as I could see. So, we gotta adjust the xml-files for liveries and AI at least in those two cases. Would have been nice, if any information was given by Reiza.

 

Yes would love to start getting some designs in. Can't wait to race against ai in open wheelers with unique helmets

Also how do we assign the helmets and suits to cars/drivers?

 

Is there any way to change the rims color in a custom livery? For example, the Mclaren GTR has multiple wheel colors in the base livery, but if you add a custom livery they all go bare metal. Is there way to at least keep the original color for the wheels?

 

Unfortunately, there will be no additional folders for the oval versions.
If you adapt the paint schemes for the oval versions, you unfortunately have to make many compromises and, for example, reduce the size of the sponsors on the rear wings.
What I mean by this is that the road versions then no longer correspond to the original paintwork.
This is especially noticeable with split lettering on the rear wing (KOOL for example).
Maybe I will publish two versions, one is the old version (where the road version is correct) and the other one is the new version where the road version is not so correct to match the oval versions.
