I haven't seen an actual thread on this issue, I've seen it mentioned a few times in random places so thought id make a single thread for people to post the GPU usage and FPS numbers along with PC specs and anything they notice that could be causing this issue. It doesn't seem to effect all users so i imagine it is going to be a difficult fix to find for Reiza. I hope I'm wrong and they have a fix ready for the next update. This image is the latest TTOTW and my 3080 is only getting 40% usage and I'm stuck around 55 FPS! This is terrible as i should be around 144 fps here. Even with G-Sync this just feels awful. Please share anything you can to help. TTOTW 55 fps - 42% GPU usage. Race weekend practice 131 FPS - 98% GPU usage. 31 Ai used. Race start 100 FPS - 89% GPU usage. 31 cars in front. Heavy cloud used in all 3 tests.
You could take a look at the Nvidia Inspector. With this application you can select AMS2 and then the app selects the best settings for you. It helped me a lot.
Also my TTOTW gets low FPS in VR and on my monitor. In VR the TTOTW runs around 45FPS with 50% GPU usage but on the same track in practice I get a solid 90FPS with 90% GPU usage Then I tried the TTOTW on my monitor and it runs at 70FPS with 50% GPU usage. So like in VR I tried the same car and track combo in practice and I get 250+FPS(single 1080p display) with 90% GPU usage. There is something wrong with the TTOTW.
I don't need NVCP settings, I get 130-140 fps ordinarily with a single car on track using triple screens (@5760x1080) but in TTOTW I get below 60! It's a game code problem, that has something to do with the code Reiza use for TTOTW and only TTOTW really. I have also changed from my current maxed settings to all low settings and GPU usage didn't change, well actually lowered.
I think investigating GPU usage and graphics settings is a red herring. From what I can tell from my testing, in TT and TTotW mode one of the CPU cores is busy doing "something", and that seems to bottleneck the frame rate. In VR I've used the app fpsVR to compare GPU and CPU frame time, and there I've noticed that GPU frame time is on the same level when testing the same car&track across all modes, while CPU frame time is significantly increased (i.e. worse performance) in TT and TTotW compared to Test Day, Single Race, and Multiplayer.
So lower FPS is coming for lower GPU usage and lower GPU usage is coming for something pinning the CPU in TT modes! Man i hope Reiza are working on this now as TT modes are such a draw card and i see the community is really enjoying the challenges.
I don't have a significant difference in CPU usage, I seems just the GPU is capped I also noticed during the test the GPU usage is also a little reduced until the car is given in control after restart, It returns from 70% to 100% after control is given to the driver (F-Vintage) TT F-Vintage Brasilia Outer 175 fps TT F-Ultimate Brasilia Outer 80 fps
Great it’s a known issue Both ttotw & the leaderboard mode suffers with this I really hope the fix is in the next update ( & it’s not far away pretty please )
