Any idea why I'm experiencing so much lag between my actual input and in-game response? I've tried every controller adjustment available in the menu, and nothing seems to help. Unfortunately, this issue makes the sim pretty much impossible to drive. :(

    Thanks in advance

    Hey,

    A few points!

    Make sure that:
    -steering sensitivity is 50
    -speed sensitive steering is off
    -vsync is deactivated
-your wheel is calibrated correctly (turn it fully to one side in step one and then 90° from the center position in step 2)

Everything you mentioned I've already tried. The funny thing is, it's only an issue with Automobilista 2. I don't have this issue with AC, ACC, RaceRoom, RFactor 2, F1 2000 or IRacing.

The wheel itself is not the issue. If it was, I would have the same lag in all the other sims I mentioned, which I do not. Also, if the wheel was the issue I would see the same delay in Windows Game Controller calibration utility, which again, I do not. Lastly, if you do a Google search in this issue, you will find numerous posts related to it, so It seems to be an issue with the software itself. Honestly, it not a huge issue for me, because I have many other sims I can play instead that don't have this issue. It's more of an issue of, it would be nice if I could actually give Automobilista 2 a proper try. Which at the moment I can't. :(

Lucky Chopp, why should the wheel itself be the issue? We're just wondering what wheel you're using, so that we can help you. Maybe someone else on this forum has that exact wheel and has a workaround? But it's a bit difficult for us to guess what wheel you have, if you don't tell us!

For example, if you have a Simucube, Accuforce, Fanatec... they all have different recommended settings in order to work with Automobilista 2.

I found a similar thread where a user with a wheel that required vJoy also experienced input lag:
    vJoy not working

    Indeed a good shout.

"Controller Damping" for wheels needs to be off @Lucky Chopp because it's not FFB damping but a "steering movement damping".

It seems like the game is treating your wheel like a gamepad and is forcing on filters that are causing input delay. If that's the case there's nothing you can do, even if you set it up as custom wheel, with v-sync off, pre-rendered frames at 1, deadzones at 0, speed sensitivity at 0, controller damping at 0, game mode enabled (if you're using HDTV), there will always be that delay.
