How do I start AMS2 in SteamVR mode?

No matter if I tick the SteamVR mode or OculusVR mode in the launch option it always starts in oculus mode. I tried reinstalling and deleting the AMS2 folder in my documents but no go.
Is this on my end or is something off with the game?

My Q2 has no problem, starting in SteamVR -> OpenXR

 

Try selecting Windows 7 compatibility mode for AMS2.exe and AMS2AVX.exe...that worked for me
