    Hi guys,

As I "always" wondered what this "particle density" is actually for, I wonder even more now.
I've seen a big performance gain when I set it to lowest.......but I can't really see what's different.
Now I always thought it was about smoke, how that looked and never really thought about it any further.
But now: I see the gain standing still in the pit box looking at the pitwall at Brands Hatch.
The gain is looking at the frame time as the fps is locked at 90 fps in VR: it went from 7.1 to 5.9 / 6.1

So, thats nice, but now I wonder even more ;)
Does someone know this stuff and happens to have a little time to "school me"? ;)

    • DETAILED GRASS
There are four options available, from Off, through Low, to Mid, and High. The higher the setting, the more accurate grass will look, but again this setting has a the potential to have a large impact on the performance of the game.
    • PARTICLE LEVEL
Here you can set how many particles such as dust or water spray are rendered. The higher the setting, the further away you’ll be able to see particles and the more detailed they will appear.
    • PARTICLE DENSITY
This correlates with the Particle Level setting, but influences how dense the displayed particle clouds will be, from Low through Medium, High to Ultra.

What about the "Render Frames Ahead" setting? What is its effect and what settings are advised to improve performance/frame rate?

Not sure about the technical details, but I set it at 1 in AMS2 and in other games, any higher than that and you'll get input lag. In games that don't have this option in the game settings I set it in Nvidia control panel (it used to be called "render frames ahead" but now it's called "low latency mode", setting it to on is the same as setting render frames ahead to 1 in either Nvidia control panel or Nvidia Inspector).

Particle density exists to remind everyone that their PC isn't good enough. Think of it as a supercilious benchmarking program.

    Thank you Peter!
For some reason I just thought that always a bit (maybe read it somewhere in the past or something) but it threw me off when I got a performance gain when there was no smoke......
But: dust also......that could be it than I presume.
    Thanks mate!

I run Grass OFF, Level OFF, and Particle Low.
