To Reiza: What physics do you actually want?

    It looks like I need to revise/change my view of this car again.
    Because there is something wrong with either the physics or the tire model of this car.
    Even if you set the car up to max rotation (primarily via diff settings) entering a corner with zero throttle input - then the car correctly does rotate (lift-oversteer) at the beginning of the corner but then still without throttle input the car about midcorner changes to understeer (stops rotation) by itself.
    And no its not because I dont know my diff settings.:cool:
    Its because there is something basically wrong with this car.

    But the reason I have not realised this before is because its only in certain corner combinations this flaw does show up.
    I have realised it on Suzuka when I tried to cook a fast setup together.
    It does show up in the first corner + the hairpin but also in two other corners I dont know the name of.

    ByTheWay: I have to say that because of my fully handcontrolled wheel (no pedals because of leg injuries) then I have to rely masively on lift-off-oversteer to get the car to rotate.
    So Im probably a slightly larger victim of such flaw than more normal users.o_O

    Man, if we could get Piquet to review the BT52... but I'm sure being who he is he doesnt give a fk about "stupid games".

    Can we get Patrese to review the car? :D

    There's 2 controller-specific threads, one in the main forum and another one in the beta forum. Me and others have posted many many times in both threads explaining what the issues are and suggestions on what can improve (people have been asking for better controller support since early access back in early 2020), but unfortunately most controller related posts go unanswered by developers.
    As far as I know every single person in the development team is a wheel user, there's nobody in the development team that doesn't have a wheel and plays exclusively with controller, so chances are the developers don't fully understand what the controller issues are and that's maybe the reason why better controller support isn't a priority for them at the moment (whatever changes they made in the last update didn't make a single difference for me).
    I've done a lot of testing with AMS2 using my Xbox 360 wired controller. When playing both AMS1 & AMS2 using the same controller settings the difference in response between the 2 games is very noticeable with AMS1 feeling very responsive and AMS2 having laggy controls.

    As for the physics topic: it's interesting to see in this thread that's not just me that notices how cars can slide in a weird way in some situations.

    And I´ll add once more that what is really simple to implement and could benefit all users is the possibility to reduce steering lock below 14 degrees on all cars. More lock for digital users means twitchier responses and increased and unnecessary tyre wear, especially on oval tracks. It´s the first thhing I adjust in other games and no other game has such a high minimum value.

    Keeping steering lock and brake pressure adjustable in fixed setup lobbies would be another very welcome change to level the playing field.

    I just tested the one in AMS2 and it’s one of the best examples about what it’s not working in this sim.

    Both understeery and uncontrollably sketchy on throttle even in straight line.

    This really helps any set up and is one of the things I usually turn down in any sim...

    It's essential for ovals where front tyre wear is excessive with too high a steering lock... And 14 is far too high for ovals...

    This is something you can do to help inexperienced controller players, but in the end you can achieve similar results by setting deadzones.

    Thanks mate, I'll check it out. Although I didn't have a great experience on my current PC with AMS1 the last time I installed, it wouldn't play nicely with all the peripherals I have plugged in so I couldn't even get on track and drive :(

    Deadzones only work with the analogue sticks though. If you use pad buttons or keyboards then you are always going to have full inputs of maximum lock whatever you do and the only things to mitigate it are damping and speed sensitivity but they only mean you turn the same amount but slower and slower to correct.

    I´d like to have at least one car with lock adjustable to 8 or 9 to be able to reduce damping and speed sensitivity.

    Okay. I myself play with controller. Specifically Xbox 360 wired controller. Left stick moves more than other controller left sticks because it's a pretty old controller, about 12-13 years old. But I like that and it works in AMS2 and other racing games as well. Car moves around little bit (left to right) but not too much. It's been best controller in racing games in my opinion.

    Sens used to be 50 both, steer and speed. Recently playing 75 sens both, no damping and no steer deadzone. Otherwise default settings. It's not perfect but better. I was frustrated at first in this game but now it's improved a lot. Tested many settings until I found that happy middle ground.

    I discovered that speed sens affects front tyre heating. Lower speed sens, more front tires heat. That's because it's too sensitive and it rotates too much in fast corners. Maybe placebo but I've been testing in Silverstone 91.

    AMS1 controller support is best I've been encountered in any racing game. AMS2 is good in that regard but not perfect. I'm quite pleased that I can drive cars however I want, mostly. I needed to adapt a little.

    Been playing F1 2022 sometimes with controller (PS5) and that game is far from good with controller, way worse than AMS2. I needed to adapt but that's been the case every racing game I have played.

    In AMS2 I need speed sens to be higher so that car isn't too twitchy on straights, steer sens higher because I need responsive and precise front on corners and could correct my driving easier if there is something happening, be it over or understeer. That's my sweet spot.

    I have said it before but saying again, this game have huge potential to be best racing game ever. Content wise it is at least to me. Enjoying it to fullest. Career mode would be nice and more championship options to play.

    First of all, I will say that English is not my native language and I write partly with the help of a translator. Don't be mad on me. :)

    I'll add my 5 cents to the discussion of FFB and physics: I own a budget G923 steering wheel and after a year of "battle" with the FFB settings for this wheel in AMS2, I've only now been able to achieve something acceptable in terms of control and driving feel, but by no means ideal.

    On the "default" or "default +" settings I can drive, but it differs radically from car to car: sometimes it's comfortable and informative, sometimes the wheel rattles like crazy, but does not give detail, like on another car.

    I went through different FFB values in the game, went through a dozen custom FFB's: a couple of them really fit the G923 and it's comfortable to ride, yes, but still somehow not very good.For example, I always compare FFB on the Cascavel track, using the track-mod for AC, the same car - Porsche Cup and a similar track and car in AMS2.

    Every bump is felt in the AC, depending on how much bigger or smaller it is - the car fights the track, but is still controlled, but at the same time - FFB is informative and does not go beyond, does not clip.

    But okay, here you can find fault, saying that Cascavel for AC is not an ideal mod (although there is no better version than from VheEth, because, as I understand it, this is a port from AMS1 without reworking the roadway), but similar sensations of comfortable and, what is very important, informative FFB, I feel in ACC, in R3E. And it's weird.

    It upsets me, because in AMS2 I see great prospects for the future, the game is beautiful, as for me, it has the best visuals, good sound and quite interesting physics.

    Based on this, I get the impression that AMS2 in terms of physics and FFB is sharpened for mid- and high-tier wheels, most likely, for DD. It comes to the ridiculous: it’s more comfortable for me to ride on the xbox one pad than on my G923.

    I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm just sharing my experience. :)

    I also see that, but it maybe depends on the car. I would’ve helped, but I’m not sure about how to make gear driven wheels feel great

    I think you are doing pretty darn well though! I'm actually amazed you can pull these times without using pedals :eek: If you want a real challenge, try the BT52 at full boost :whistle: Pick a track and lets challenge ourselves :cool:

    I always think it's funny when people are so reluctant to share a setup. Why would you not want to know that you were a faster driver - all else being equal?

    I suppose one can argue that in racing, not only driver skill counts, but also knowing how to create a fast setup (and in real life: other stuff such as car maintenance, team preparation, logistics, etc.)
