Discord is for the ripped stuff... A good place to hide it...

Legitimate mod work should be encouraged by any developer as there's very little downside to it and a whole lot of upside in more interest and word of mouth about their product... And as rF2 has showed with it's many car and track releases that were already in the game in mod form, including their latest track announcement, it doesn't hinder future licensing talks... So I don't see any reason for minimal talk on here about mods, especially now that Reiza is able to be open towards them...

If this one wasn't such a recent hot topic I wouldn't be anywhere near as cautious or keen for clarification...

I very much agree with this point. Anything scratch built reminds us why we love PC gaming. It's the ported stuff from other titles (even PCars 1-3) that might make things awkward.

Mods originated by work on scratch and not being ripped are perfectly fine to be shared.

It becomes an (obvious) issue if we share links of ripped models (track example) on this platform but to be clear: This doesn't mean the action to rip stuff will/can be supressed. If you want to "port" content - do it on your own responsibility/risk, but don't share download links in the public Reiza forums platform.

Again: it's on your own responsibility though! We can't take any responsibility for consequences that might or might not occur if you're sharing ripped mods from other creators.

Thankyou very much for the clarification...

The mod in question ticks the boxes for the scratch built part and we are working further on the files within the mod to make it more up to date and matching it's real life version rather than the gen 3 files it was cloned from...

Now for the touchy subject which I'm expecting a no from... Sounds that were released in BETA on AMS2... Would they be free game to be used in a mod?

The current sounds are for the gen 3 cars... But obviously there's newer sounds that were available in the BETA at one point... And have made their way to the main release of the title so it's available to even non-BETA people like myself...

AMS2 is great in general, but some of the car sounds are very weak, especially the shifting sound. I hope Reiza releases the ability to replace the car sounds so we get more sounds with full 3D HRF to come close to RaceRoom, IRacing, ACC sound quality.

I'm no modder but from what I've read, it's not trivial to port anything to AMS2. Yes, you can port the 3d model but there's a bunch of additional things in AMS2 that need to be added (for cars at least). So when we talk about scratch, I assume it's just the 3d model that people get defensive about?

If someone took the current Reiza Camaro and morphed it into the ZL1 would that be acceptable?

I'm just painting for this one and learning modding on the fly from the files... If you are super keen there's some WIP screenshots up on RD...

If anyone wants to do LMP2 and LMP3 mods, hit me up, i make liveries for you :D
thats the only stuff i ask for honestly, besides praying that VRC might do something which is unlikely.

So car mods are possible in AMS2 but track mods are not? There's track mods for the PCars games aren't there?
