Report: replay shows 8th gear in display as -8. While driving, it's fine. Pics attached to compare. I was on VR as you can see. 20230221160456_1.jpg 20230221160437_1.jpg

    Track and Layout: Spa 73
    Car: Mitsubishi Lancer RS

In Test Day, when startiing the session, it is impossible to exit the stands as the crew block it, thinking there is a pit stop or something. Only happens with the Lancer RS and only on that track.

Report: Race start screen throttles GPU unnecessarily
    Ver. 1.4.5.2 (2023)

I'm not sure how often people on here monitor their GPU/CPU temps while gaming, and I didn't see this being talked about anywhere else for as long as this game has been out, (3 years, and still don't think anyone knows or noticed) but the game throttles/spikes GPU temp on the starting grid screen after hitting "start" on the track/vehicle selection screen.

None of my other games do this (ultra settings too) & this game is optimized (sort of) and runs fine during the races or on any other menu screen. It's literally just this screen right here with the leaderboard just before the race.

    See screenshots below:

My specs are solid but incase anyone asks:
    RTX 3060
    Ryzen 7 5600g
    Everything on regular high settings:

    20230224121218_1.jpg

To follow up with that, I've also went as far to dumb down my settings low enough to a potato pc's settings, (hate doing that) and still get the same result. So I don't even think it's anything with the graphics.

Thankfully though, temps while racing are more normal (68-73 sometimes 75+ish depending on graphics settings ofc) but like I said I even lowered those down & I also don't even really hit 80 on Forza hrzn5 and that's cranked up to ultra everything. Everything on Forza runs a decent 68-75 but that's with ultra everything so there's reasoning behind that.

    ams2 gpu throttle report.jpg

Again not sure why, but to conclude, if you leave AMS2 idling on that starting grid screen, (give it like 5-10min normal bathroom break duration) before you start the race, GPU & it's fans, will significantly increase. Temps are normal again while in-game racing though.

I hope this gets patched up soon, as well as for any other performance/graphical improvements to make the game run smoother.

    Thank you for reading :p

Have you noticed if this happens both offline and online?

Spikes like that shouldn't even happen in the first place. That's like sitting on your desktop with no programs running and your temperatures are just skyrocketing but you don't know why.

That is why he is asking in what situation it happened. Reiza need all details to fix an issue. They can’t fix an issue with the only info being your temperatures went up

That's the whole point of this thread, the problem is that the starting grid screen (screenshot above) shoots my temps up tediously high, but nothing is happening. I haven't even began the race. So I don't know why, nor can I explain it anymore than that. But all I can say is when in action/racing, the game runs normal temperatures. I just don't think anyone's temperatures should be skyrocketing on just a menu screen. I've included pretty much every detail I've needed.

I never implied that what's happening is correct, because it's absolutely NOT. It's just that I want to know if you spotted a difference between offline and online (the 5-10 minute break you mention speaks about being offline, because online that screen won't last more than 2 minutes). And also, as I'm always running HWinfo, I would like to see it by myself if I can replicate it on my end. The more information we can send to Reiza, the better. It could be just something in your end because who knows, it could be a combination of graphical settings, etc. Tracing this is not that easy.

No you're good, I wasn't trying to sound bad or anything, was honestly trying to be humorous but yeah definitely lmk what happens and if you get the same experience and let it chill on that screen for a sec after hitting "start" for a race, and no I haven't tried the online mode yet even but I'm sure it's sick. This was something I noticed first-handedly about like 2 hours in the game and it immediately struck my attention. I happen to just pause for a minute on that race start screen and go on my phone for a few, and couldn't help but notice and hear GPU cranking. But the bizarre and no-sense making catch, is that it does that only on that screen (screenshot above), all the other menus like car and grid selection, options, mode select, etc, remains normal desktop idle temps. This topic is very odd and weird as it is I apologize for that but definitely something worth Reiza lookin into because it just seems like a minor performance tweak everything else like I said is good. Thank you for your response I appreciate it. Cheers

I appreciate everyone taking the time to read up on my thread. I know it's really odd sounding, but I just wanted to see if anyone pays attention to or notices very small things like this while monitoring temperatures. Thank you all who read.

Further development on my issues. Switched wheels when my PC and wheelbase where on and I didn’t have the issue. Could then just be Fanatec

Track & Layout Used: Hockenheim historic 1988
Car Used: GT1 (and Group C too)
Applicable Settings: In VR and online/multiplayer
Report: Cars in the distance "disappear" on the long straights, when you get closer to them they just come back/get visible again. This ONLY happens in Hockenheim historic 1988 somehow. It happened in two races and one of them was for 100% sure: GT1 and the other time that it happened it were Group C cars from what I'm remember but I'm only 90% about that. But it's easy to reproduce: open an online lobby with GT1 cars in Hockenheim historic 1988 and let the car in front of you drive away and at the end of the long straight it simply disappears. When you get closer the car just pops back into visibility. Maybe it also happens with other cars and offline (probably) but I only tested it with a public online lobby.

Check your car detail setting in performance options , low on some cars have mirrored low quality texture , in replays other higher graphical settings are used automagically (and performance is therefore much lower but visuals are on ultra)

Also related to 'replay' settings , on the grid screen some extra gpu settings seems to be maxed and will tax the gpu (or maybe botched depth of field filter , who knows).
If you bind previous/next replay camera buttons , one of them changes to a swooping (and other dramatic:D) own car views that should instantly drop gpu load.
These keys work in menu grid view as well as in 'trackside' camera in replay itself.

Also the screen is rendering all the things and is no static image like your other mentioned screens

Few days old, but I've went out of my way to test literally everything, as far as resolution even, I was legit trial and erroring everything in the options menu (I have an RTX 3060)

    I don't think it's anything with the replay I don't use it

I Monitor my temps and if someone says something which isn’t involved with your scenario you should say that. No need to get angry and assume stuff.

    F_Retro_Gen 3:

On oval tracks like Fontana, the AI in turbo charged cars retire just after 2 or 3 laps in training and qualifying. They do not do so in races.
Seems like they have their cooling set to 0 in qualifying.

Yes, I know, these cars did nor race on ovals and the turbos in the 80's were maxed out in qualy sessions, but it is exaggerated here in game. After 5 minutes of the session, only the 12 naturally aspirated cars are left.

Although the turbos can make it till the end in races, they achieve same laptimes than in qualifying where they use this engine killing setup.

2nd to 6th is correct for Copa Truck vehicles. 1st gear is locked away for them accurately.
