As the title reads, I have a beast PC with everything maxed out in-game, and enhanced antialiasing, MFAA, AA transparency, etc in nvidia control panel and the shadows still look aboslutely terrible. I don't know what I need to max out where to improve the horrendous shadows. Anyone know what I'm missing here? Thanks!
Anti aliasing I made this thread before AMS2 even released knowing the issue of the Madness engine. Have a read, Reiza made a few comments saying they had ideas but nothing ever came of it.
Yeah overcast, heavy clouds and haze help (depending on track, time of day etc). Turning shadows off doesn't look completely bizarre either because the cars still have some shadows on the bottom, good for VR where the janky shadows can be genuinely distracting.
Just watch any AMS2 videos and you see all these flickering and jiggered shadows. Really detracts from an otherwise great image quality.
Shadows has been a long time issue since release, yeah. It been worse, tho. They did some great shadow-patching a year or 1.5 year ago. But issues still remain. I do believe shadows are madness engine's weakspot, tho
It's a deal breaker for me. So distracting with them on, and it looks terrible/fake with them off. Can't win. This would probably become my main sim if Reiza could just fix this, because everything else is really good.
Resurrecting this thread because it really does need to be a priority. That and some users have a weird stuttering issue. Both need to be solved asap.
Something which could also be talked about is the guard rails being jagged, lines too. An example is sitting in the garage in Spa. The lines on the track and the railing are jagged
Without knowing it I guess the problem is so deep in the Mad engine that it can not be solved without a complete rebuild of the engine. But trying to look at it in a positive way then maybe one of the reasons this sim dont tax the used PC too hard could be because (among other things) the shadow code is pretty simplified.
