But what if we calibrate AI on mandatory races in practice? Let's say you drive 3-10 mandatory laps at a good pace, will the AI calibrate and set the necessary presets for the race for a particular user, provided that there are no more live players?
Yes, there may be dishonest racers, for example, passing such a practice deliberately slower, but here you need to think over the restrictors for which you can’t go down - perhaps the average value of the lap time for the first 10-50 positions from the time trial table?
Is it possible? Is this generally feasible or the functionality will not allow now? :)

Keep an eye on rating changes, for sure it's calculation can be improved.

To match driver to AI i need AI and driver lap times. Someone need to do this first race with AI.

Good thing is that someday RCO will have all AI lap times it needs and then it would be able to better match driver to AI.

Hmm, since RCO already have some AI lap times , then yes in some cases the RCO can adjust AI to the driver based on his/her performance during Clean Lap Challenge.

Concerning lap times restriction, it would require reference lap times for all tracks, but it's something to consider.

    Good idea ;)

Sandbagging the AI shouldn't actually give you an advantage if points are properly calibrated to AI/racer pace, which I think they are now. Finishing 1st against very slow AI will give fewer points than finishing 5th against fast AI I think.

Regarding mismatched player speeds in multiplayer races, would it be possible to just include a few AI opponents for each racer's speed? Can the individual AI opponents' speeds be adjusted or is there just one aggregate speed setting for all of the AI opponents?

I was going to ask about this, using that last race as an example.

So my pace must have generally been pretty good in so much as I qualified eighth, mid pack-ish, and managed to make my way into second place during the race. My safety points and consistency both remained the same, no bumps or offs - I understand that. However, under those circumstances wouldn’t it make more sense for my consistency to have taken a big hit than my pace?

I don’t know if RCO can recognise a difference here or if it can only see that I finished last. Perhaps being in second and then ending in last is the reason for such a big hit?

The lesson being; over fuel by a few laps if need be but never, ever risk running on how many laps the race should be. Oh, and don’t rely on a fuel calculator like I did, not without an extra lap of fuel just in case.

So lets add those new ideas in to the backlog and when I finish your previous requests then we will vote on next features priorities.

    Ok?

It's just one value: ai difficulty, the same as in single player.
Reiza would need to add such functionality to ams2 ai configuration in dedicated server

RCO knows your position for every lap, but Consistency describes your lap times consistency only.

I am not sure if I get it ;P

Not to worry. It’s me getting it the wrong way round.:) It makes sense that it recognised I was in 2nd but finished last, therefore it’s a big hit to pace. Sorry, don’t want to confuse matters even more!

Pace is not calculated like that.
    It's very simple actually.

    Your finish position matters only.
    You're last? Pace from race = 0 to 15
In the middle? Pace from race = 50
First? Pace from race = 100

Then your Pace from race is weighted a little, you get more Pace from race when you raced opponents with higher Pace and vice versa.

Then RCO takes average Pace from your last 10 (or 5 i dont remember :p ) races and that's your overall Pace

    EDIT
and AI Pace = AI skill

But maybe there should be more in to Pace calculation? Maybe your starting position and battling for the whole race should matter.
Maybe it's base for another rating, or achievement?

    Let me know ;)

Maybe pace could be a combination of finishing position and fastest lap?

E.g. You did the 2nd fastest lap but crashed out and finished the race 12th, your pace would be a combination of those two.

If you want to finish first,
First you have to finish !
I understand it's a bit harsh but if you finish last, you made a worse race than every one else and should get the less rewarded ...
More over, I really like the fact that Roszman added a buffer of "lost" races to get to less much affected by this situation (correct me if I'm wrong! )
@roszman , as I understand it you have a "table" linking circuit, cars, IA level, and time ?
It could be great for drivers to know in advance what pace they need to achieve before signing in for a race ...

Yes, there is a buffer www.racecraft.online/faq#Points

I don't know what the race Pace would be before the race. It's all dynamic.

I can show what the is the average drrivers Pace for the given race, based on drivers registered for a given race, but this value will change with every newely registered driver, so if 5 new drivers register just 1 sec before the race then average Pace shown to you before would be obsolete.

Yeah you're right, impossible to predict then ..
It's sad you haven't got much options for the IA... In assetto in sp you can set the spread of the level witch could be a good solution to adjust it with the real drivers' pace/level .
Do you know if custom IA is usable on multiplayer?

    Idk

    Edit
Can we spread AMS2 AI skill trough custom AI file or smth?

Information for Customizing AI drivers in AMS2 V1.3

We can customise the AI within single player. The wording within that advice/‘how to’ post suggests customisable AI for multiplayer is currently not available so may, depending on schedules etc be available in the future.

With such functionality in place the RCO would be able to generate custom AI file for each race, adjusted for drivers skill.

Yes, it could be funny to have fixed IA with fixed name and level and integrate them into the rankings system.

I've just discovered you can blow your engine in practice. I got a coolent leak warning and then the engine blew before the end of the lap. Better get on with it, just half an hour to get my clean laps in:cool:
