AMS2 Dedicated Server Tool / SteamCMD Support

Hello Racers,
for dedicated servers some information, like vehicle class, are not displayed in the Serverlist. It always seem to work with servers that are created in AMS2? Where can i add this info's in the server.cfg?

 

It will show that once at least 1 person has entered the server, as that starts the session, without anyone in the server, no session is running.

Obviously in an ingame created lobby, there is always the creator of the lobby thats already in there.

 

Thank you. Another quick odd question: Is it possible to set the number of vehicles per class? Such as a total of 30 vehicles, 5 or which are human. Out of the remaining 25 cars, to set 7 in class 1, 6 in class 2, 6 in class 3, and 6 in class 4. Our race last night one class only had 4 drivers and sometimes 1 or 2.

It seem to have a lot of lags with Dedicated server. Is there a way to have logs files ?

 

I didn't read this whole thread yet, but so far I'm disappointed in the complexity and lack of clear and easy to follow documentation. The .CFG files don't even have simple enumerations of values to explain the numbers that corresponds to the settings or the track value, etc... Why do we have to query an API to get those values? Most people will not understand this and prevents more people to host this wonderful sim..

The different possible values should in the comments (example in bold) to get people easily started

// Visual only damage (0 = full damage, 1 visual only damage)

instead of this...

Can someone paste the API results for all tracks and all cars here for ease of use?

 

Setting up a dedicated server appears to complicated at the moment, this is not plug and play. I cannot even reach local host, etc... not sure what is going on. My goal was to create an EAST US dedicated server to further promote AMS2 but I don't have that kind of time to deal with all the obstacles in front of me. If someone would post an Azure VM image all configured, I would be happy to pay for it and host it.

 

I just setup an RaceRoom server in 5min, including the download time and full rotating tracks configuration. Simple, intuitive. Install the tool from Steam/Tools. Nothing to read, if you can click next, you are good to go.

 

If your willing to pay you might consider buying a server manager to simplify the whole server prosses. emperor server host ded's but also you can purchase their server manager for AMS2 for around $14.00US and run your server threw it! it puts everything in easy-to-use drop-down menus, we have been using it for the last 2 years, and its great! no headaches simple & fast..

 

does that create permanent cfg files or is it just temporary like the ingame http UI

 

Not sure what you mean, but it will keep it as a preset and you can change it or edit it, plus you can build multiple presets ..

 

Or if you want a free and also excellent solution, have a look at JustRace.net
they use a portal which is linked to their servermanager software on your server/pc

it allows you to setup single events, championships, practice servers, hotlap servers

 

@Roy Niessink will such server from justrace.net will be listed inside AMS2 Multiplayer list of servers?

 

Thats up to you, in general they are, if you filter on #jr ingame, you will see all the servers, however, they also support using the sportsplay function, which only shows the server when people start ams2 using the link provided on justrace, it takes quite a bit longer to load the server list, but your server shows up at the top of the list then
