It seems that Automobilista 2 has an audio feature while using VR, where when you turn your head to the right or left the engine sounds gets louder. I do not like this feature at all... is there a way to turn this feature off?
Hey! Are you using the VR-headset for sound, or external headphones? You can try to enable/disable headphones mix in the audio settings for AMS2. If that doesn't help, check your sound settings in Windows to check if spatial audio is enabled on your output. Try to enable/disable that as well. Hope this helps!
All external here, and currently just using stereox2 with a y connector going to my transducer. I've tried all that a while back, but will check again this evening. The biggest annoyance is that when driving with my head looking straight ahead, I hardly hear my tactile transducer (Clark-Synthesis), but when I turn my head to the right or left it comes on strong. That seems strange to me. And what I don't understand is this only happens with AMS2, and no other sim that I run... So that's why it seems to be something the Reiza does in their audio features.
Hmmm... I just noticed something this evening while doing some testing, that this only happens with the rear-engine cars. None of the front engine cars do this. So it seems to be a feature that is intentional. You would think there's a simple way to address this.
Just a warning. Eventhough one of the messages/hints in AMS2 does say that its urgent to enable Headphone Mix if you are using headphones. This is completely wrong if you are using any intended virtualization in your headphones! Spatial audio and any form of virtual surround via headphones is destroyed if you upon on this effect does enable Reizas Headphone Mix. Because then it is an audio mix upon another mix. Only use Headphone Mix if you are using plain stereo in your headphones. ByTheWay: The only thing Im not fully sure of is that if your Windows settings says 5.1/7.1 and you are listening via a plain stereo headphone WITHOUT any virtulization. Because then Reizas hint of enabling the Headphone Mix is probably OK.
This is very frustrating. I thought I had fixed it by changing around my audio setup and going to optical (spdif) 5.1, but still does it on most the rear engine cars. This is my one and only gripe about AMS2!
I don't have a surround setup, so this is a guess, but I think it's likely one of these two scenarios: You're sending the Front Left and Front Right channels to your listening device and to your transducer. The FL/FR channels have little to no sound in rear-engined cars, where instead the Surround Left and Surround Right have the sound. If front-engined cars sound more or less normal, then this is likely what's happening. One of the channels has reversed polarity, so you're getting phase cancellation (less likely, based on your description) I'm a bit confused why you're using 5.1 surround if you have a VR headset? Don't you have a normal stereo sound output that you can use?
